11th Annual Pink Ribbon Zumbathon. 6 PM to 8 PM. Come join us help benefit our Turning Point Program, which helps our members with breast cancer, and have fun while we do it! This event is open to members and to the public, $10/person at the door. We will have a 50/50 drawing, baskets to be raffled off and we’ll be selling our previous years shirts before the event. Since this is our 11th event, we want you to wear your favorite shirt from one of the previous years. Also, let’s go retro by dressing up 70s, 80s or 90s style that night! Nephrateri Benefit Concert. 6:30 PM. NEPHRATERI, the multifaceted singer-songwriter, filmmaker, and activist, is thrilled to present a special benefit concert at the Michigan Theatre of Jackson. This event is dedicated to honoring 2nd Lieutenant Isaiah “ZEEK” Lewis and providing support for families in need of advocacy for traumatic brain injury patients. Jackson Fire Department Open House. 1 PM to 5 PM. Firefighters are planning a fun and informative afternoon for residents. This will be an opportunity to get an inside look at the Central Fire Station and how it operates to keep the community safe. Visitors will also enjoy fire truck tours, live demonstrations, and fire safety tips. Jackson firefighters will be there to meet residents and answer questions about what it’s like to be a first responder. This event is free and open to the public. County Historical Marker Unveiling. 11 AM. Carver Camp, named after renowned scientist George Washington Carver, was established by the Metropolitan Baptist District of Great Detroit as a rural, religious and recreational campground in the early 1940s. The 385-acre property in Grass Lake Township was originally owned by the Soper family, among the first pioneers in Grass Lake. This historic marker, the first in Grass Lake Township for the Jackson County Michigan Historical Society will be unveiled in a dedication ceremony this Saturday, October 5th at 11:00AM. Betty’s Fall Workbee at Dahlem. 9 AM to 1 PM. Come for part or all of the Workbee. Everyone’s helping hands will complete our To-Do Task List. This is open to individuals, families, and organized groups (scouts, clubs, etc.).
