Art 634 Open Mic Night. 7 PM. Art 634, 634 N. Mechanic Street, Jackson. Share your talent at Art 634! Stand Up, Music, Poetry, Storytelling, Theater, or whatever the creative spirit brings. The third Thursday of the month in the Main Gallery at Art 634. Sign-ups will begin at 6:30p, and the mic will open at 7:00p and go until about 10p. Feel free to come when you are able. Coffee, tea, cocoa, and water is available **feel free to bring your own preferred food and drink** Also remember to bring a friend or two! The open mic is hosted by Brian Tucker. Brian’s music composition, storytelling, and theater make for the perfect mix to help highlight the many talents in our community. We look forward to sharing a night of creativity with you!
Cosmic Christmas Light Show. Hurst Planetarium’s annual Holiday Light Show is back! This year we are celebrating the holidays with our Cosmic Christmas light show, produced by the Longway Planetarium. This is a must not miss event for anyone looking for some holiday fun! Come on out and sing along with us in the Hurst Planetarium! Tickets purchased will be a “Day Pass” to the Ella Sharp Museum and Hurst Planetarium. Please choose the date you’re interested in and attend one of our scheduled shows at 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, and 4 pm. Member Price: Free. Non-Member Price: $10 for adults, $8 for seniors/military/college students, $5 for children, 4 & under are free. Dates: 12/18 – 12/23 and 12/26 – 12/30. Times: 11:30 am, 2:30 pm, & 4:00 pm each day.
Gear Up: The Science of Bikes. From schoolyards and mountain trails to bustling city streets, we encounter bicycles nearly every day. Since its inception in the late 19th century, the bicycle has affected how people live, work, and play. Its popularity has only grown over time, and it is as relevant today as it was 100 ago. Visitors of GEAR UP will learn how bikes work, the science and technology behind the machine as well as the history and evolution of the bike and how bikes have impacted our culture. Like the bicycle itself, this exhibition has been designed to appeal to people of all ages with diverse interests, from STEM to design to history to art. Now on exhibit at Ella Sharp Museum.
