Stop the Bleed Class.  5 PM to 6 PM. Free event presented by Henry Ford Health.  Injuries that result in life-threatening bleeding can happen anywhere, at any time. The individual next to a bleeding victim, may be the one who is most likely to save that person from bleeding to death before professional first responders arrive. A STOP THE BLEED®  course will help you become an immediate responder by learning how to control bleeding injuries from serious accidents or disasters. The STOP THE BLEED® course is for anyone who is interested in learning this lifesaving skill for bleeding control. The course begins with a presentation covering the basics of bleeding control, followed by hands-on practice applying direct pressure, packing a wound, and using a tourniquet to stop bleeding.  Location:  Jackson YMCA (Henry Ford Community Education Center) Downtown, 127 W. Wesley Street.

Monster Box Improv’s Uncorked Comedy. 7 PM to 10 PM.  Fast, Fun, Witty, Unique, and Hilarious. The Improv Team navigates scenes, games , characters, and crazy rules from audience suggestions.  Join us for a fast-paced evening of fun and laughter. This is not stand-up comedy. Our team of professional actors are put through a series of hilarious challenges with the task of creating an original comedy show on the spot, and keeping you laughing throughout the night. Without prior knowledge of topics, subject matter, or rules to play by, they are given scenarios, characters, scenes, games, and suggestions from you, the audience. Armed only with their quick wits and teamwork, they put together an unforgettable show that will keep you laughing for days. Grass Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce Mixer.  5 PM to 7 PM.  You’ve been working too hard, you need a break! “The Help” Film Screening. 7 PM.  Join us for a big-screen screening of The Help, the acclaimed period drama based on Kathryn Stockett’s bestselling novel. Set in 1960s Mississippi, this powerful story follows aspiring writer Skeeter as she documents the experiences of Black maids working in white households—unearthing courage, unlikely friendships, and calls for change along the way.  Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Eyes on the Block. 6 PM to 8 PM. The City of Jackson is launching “Eyes on the Block” Community Safety Ring Doorbell Camera Program. This program is designed to create partnerships between community members and law enforcement to deter, detect, and help solve crime.This program will provide up to 100 residential or small-business Ring Doorbell cameras along with the first year subscription initially for Wards 1 and 2. Installation will be provided by the City of Jackson Community Development Department. Ring allows participants to upload videos anonymously to law enforcement. Community meeting regarding program with Councilmember Dancy.  Thursday, Feb. 19, from 6 to 8 p.m.  Jackson Boos Recreation Center, 210 Gilbert St, Jackson.
