Kiwanis Kids Film Series: “Sonic 2”.  The Michigan Theatre Kids Film Series is sponsored by Kiwanis Club of Jackson.  Showtimes are 11 AM and 3 PM.  Doors open one half hour before showtimes.  Kids Combo:  Small Drink and Popcorn for $5. Admission is $1. Michigan Theatre, Downtown Jackson.

Jackson College Band Camp Finale.  12 PM.  The students of Jackson College Summer Band Camp will present their finale performance today at 12 PM.  Potter Center, Jackson College Central Campus.   All are welcome to attend!

Independence Day at the Cascades.  July 3rd is our Independence Day Celebration at The Cascades! Gates will be opening at 6 PM with LIVE Entertainment to follow at 7 PM by The New Rule. Fireworks will begin at dusk. Admission: Children (4-12) $5 Regular (13 and up) $7 Seniors (65 and up) $5 We can’t wait to celebrate our country with you all.

Grass Lake Music in the Park.  6:30 PM to 8 PM.  2024 marks our 12th year of hosting this family friendly FREE, LIVE music event in the Village of Grass Lake (next to Kelly Fuels Express Car Wash) on the 1st & 3rd Wednesdays May thru September. Bring your lawn chair and come an enjoy the sweet sounds of summer. Feel free to browse our local farmers market before the music starts which runs weekly from 4:00-7:00 pm.  Tonight music by Kevin Nichols!

Jackson College Astronomical Observatory Public Viewing.  9 PM to 11 PM.  Jackson College’s new Astronomical Observatory will hold public viewing nights on Wednesdays and Fridays, 9-11 p.m. (weather permitting) now through the month of July. Viewing nights provide the public with an opportunity to look through the new high-tech telescope to see the planets, the moon and stars. Astronomical Observatory Coordinator Talia Burns will be available to explain what guests may be looking at and to answer any related questions. Guests are also welcome to bring their own telescopes; the site has an outdoor platform area with several piers for amateur astronomers.  Those interested are advised to check the weather beforehand. The telescope is ADA compliant and accessible to people in wheelchairs. When entering Central Campus from Emmons Road, take the service drive to the left; the observatory is just beyond the softball and baseball fields.
