Jackson County residents are invited to take part in shaping the future of their community by attending one of several Drive Jackson Vision Plan Pop-up events. These open house–style gatherings are designed to make it easy for everyone to share their ideas and feedback on the next 20-year Strategic Vision Plan for Jackson County. Drive Jackson is a countywide initiative to develop a bold community-driven plan, initiated by Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, together with partners, including Accelerate Jackson County, Experience Jackson, Jackson Community Foundation, City of Jackson and Jackson County. The Vietnam War Experience. 4 PM to 6 PM. Join Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 109 at the Napoleon Branch as they share their experiences. This interactive presentation will include a flag ceremony, display of war artifacts, and discussion of jobs and culture at the time of the Vietnam War. Napoleon Branch, Jackson District Library.
Fall into Film: Sin City (2005). 7 PM. Enter the dark, dangerous world of Sin City (2005), Frank Miller’s groundbreaking graphic novel adaptation directed by Robert Rodriguez and Miller, with guest direction by Quentin Tarantino. Told in a striking black-and-white palette with flashes of vivid color, this gritty neo-noir crime saga follows intersecting stories of vengeance, corruption, and justice in a dystopian cityscape. With unforgettable performances by Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, Jessica Alba, Clive Owen, and Rosario Dawson, Sin City pushed the limits of visual storytelling and redefined the comic book movie. Presented as part of our Fall into Film Series. Doors open at 6:30 PM; the film begins at 7:00 PM. Tickets are $5 at the door; members attend free. Join us for this FREE, all-ages event on WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 29, from 6:30-8:30 pm — it’s a family-friendly Halloween party! You’ll get to switch between three music genres this evening: Halloween-themed, 90s, and EDM/Dance! Whoa Disco will provide 100 pairs of freshly sanitized wireless headphones, adjustable for all sizes, to dance the night away in our laser light-enhanced beer garden! Con Con Halloween Edition. Join Jackson College and Jackson District Library for the Con Con Movie Series on Wednesday, Oct. 29, 2025, at 7 p.m. via Zoom. The Con Con (Concatenation Convention) series brings the community together at the intersection of science and science fiction, where we explore what films get right and wrong about the natural world. For this Halloween edition, we’ll discuss the underground horror film “The Descent,” in which a group of spelunkers discovers that the darkness beneath the Earth holds more than geological secrets. Muhahaha. Viewers can watch “The Descent” (Rated R) in advance via Hoopla with your JDL or Jackson College library access (watching in advance is suggested but not necessary; join the discussion then watch later). 40 Years in the Hood: Detroit’s Heidelberg Project Exhibition. Witness an extraordinary exhibition curated by renowned Detroit-based artist Tyree Guyton, whose work has transformed the art world and inspired communities for over 40 years. Tyree Guyton is best known for his iconic Heidelberg Project, which has turned discarded objects into powerful symbols of community, resilience, and hope.“Armed with a paintbrush, a broom, and neighborhood children, Guyton and Grandpa began by cleaning up vacant lots on Heidelberg Street”.
