(12-22-2025, 9:45PM): A highly anticipated non-conference girls basketball matchup took place in Parma on Monday night, as the Western Panthers hosted Division 1 Dexter (18-7 last season). The Panthers two star players, Aubree Allen and Rayah Hitt, led the way for their squad in the home victory.
Allen and Hitt combined for all 34 of Western’s points in the first half, including 3 three-pointers in the second quarter for Allen, a Davenport University commit. Allen broke the WHS career rebounds record last week in a blowout conference win over Hastings. Hitt also added 4 blocks to anchor the Panthers defense. Western led Dexter 34-29 at the halftime break. Sophomore Layla Blumberg led the Dreadnaughts scoring after two quarters with 12 points.
Dexter kept the contest within single digits after three quarters thanks to their defense, only trailing the Panthers by just six points (49-43). Western was able to pull away in the final quarter, winning the non-conference battle 72-54.
Grand Valley State University commit Rayah Hitt led all scorers with 28 points for the Panthers, Aubree Allen added 27 points and over 10 rebounds. Addy Wylie led Dexter with 19 points, Layla Blumberg added 18 points.
Western improves to 4-1 overall and will travel to Goodrich on Friday 1/2 . Dexter falls to 2-2 and will play Salem on Saturday.
