Saturday April 11th
(4-11-2026, 11:00PM): After the Vikings led just 1-0 through four innings, Lumen Christi scored all 13 of its runs in the last three innings as they defeated Jackson 13-3 under the Saturday night lights in a crosstown rivalry.
Not much offense was generated by either team until the bottom of the third inning. Jackson pitcher Spencer Bush had thrown just 20 pitches and faced seven batters through two innings. The Titans had a chance to capitalize in the third inning with two men on base, but a 2-out fly ball from Benny Gaston to center field was robbed thanks to one of the few exceptional plays by Jackson CF Joey Ortiz.
The Vikings scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the third inning. After loading the bases with two outs, a walk for Joseph Walraven would bring in a run to make it a 1-0 lead for Jackson.
Lumen Christi’s 13 runs scored in the contest wouldn’t come until the fifth inning. After a bunt single from Kellen Crowley and stealing second base, the runner at 3rd would score to make it a tie game at 1-1. An RBI single from Logan Hetherington, thanks to a defensive error, would give LC a 2-1 lead. Back-to-back wild pitches from Joey Ortiz would give the Titans additional runs and make it a 4-1 ball game.
RBI hits from both Crowley and Benny Gaston would extend the lead to 6-2 for LC in the sixth inning. Lumen Christi would go onto to score five more runs in the 7th inning and take a 13-3 win at Jackson High School on Saturday.
Kellen Crowley led the Titans lineup, he batted 3-3 with 2 RBIs. Jack Fitzpatrick, Wes Learned, Benny Gaston, and Logan Hetherington each added two hits. Gibson Shore earned the win on the mound, pitching three innings and throwing five strikeouts. Joey Ortiz led Jackson with two hits, and Spencer Bush allowed just two hits in his four innings on the mound.
Lumen Christi is now 4-2 overall to start the season, and Jackson falls to 4-7.
