(2-5-2025, 12:00PM): Three Jackson-area athletes have been making waves this week, shattering basketball records and announcing collegiate football commitments.
Junior Rayah Hitt made the 1,000 career points mark for Western on Tuesday night, scoring 23 points in a 55-33 win over Williamston. Hitt becomes the fourth player in Western girls basketball history to achieve the 1K points mark.

On Monday, Senior Luke Soper of Hanover-Horton became HH’s all-time leading scorer in a loss to Michigan Center. Soper also scored a massive 45 points including the game-winner to help the Comets defeat D4 state-ranked Lenawee Christian 56-54.

Senior Coby Tripp, a long snapper for Western football, committed this week to Ball State University, a Division 1 MAC school. Tripp was a member of the Panthers program that won several district titles and appeared in regional finals over the last four years under Coach Nick Rulewicz.

Senior volleyball star Iyla Weeks from Concord committed this week to Spring Arbor University to continue her athletic career at the next level. Weeks was named the 2024 Big 8 Conference Volleyball MVP and helped the Yellowjackets win a regional volleyball title this past season.
