Jackson – The start of the playoffs is one week away.

But the end of the regular season figures to feature some fireworks as Jackson High and Lumen Christi cap things off with their fourth meeting against one another in the past four years.

Here’s some facts and figures for tonight’s contest, set for 7 p.m. at Withington Stadium.

-Tonight is the 30th all-time meeting between the city rivals, with Lumen holding a 24-5 overall record in the series.

-Both teams enter the game with 6-2 records, meaning this will be the first time since 2009 that both make the playoffs in the same season.

-Lumen has won eight in a row against Jackson. The Viking’s last victory was a 21-17 victory in 1988.

-Jackson’s offense has been hitting on all cylinders lately, scoring 156 points in the past three weeks — all wins.

-Lumen’s defense has been the main reason the team fought out of a two-game losing streak. The Titans beat Western 12-7 two weeks ago and Pennfield 28-8 last week.

-The Titans’ defense is allowing just 15 points per game this season, and 12.1 in the team’s six victories.

-Tonight’s winner will close the regular season with a 7-2 victory and have an outside shot at hosting a playoff opener, depending on which division the teams end up being placed.
