Jackson College Introduces Jackson College Global

(August 12, 2022 2:23 PM) Jackson College has announced the launch of Jackson College Global,  representing the evolution of online learning at the College,  a provider of quality higher education since 1928. The College has offered online learning for entire academic programs virtually for 20 years.  In its launch, Jackson College Global offers 40 programs to students around the world. It brings together state-of-the-art learning experiences with the community college’s focus on student success and service according to Dr. Brian Newberry, director of Jackson College Virtual. While many institutions offer four-year degrees, fewer provide shorter programs of study that help students transfer into four-year colleges or prepare students for jobs in the global workforce.

“The vision of Jackson College Global is to provide access to meaningful programs of study to students anywhere they are,” Newberry said. “Students will experience courses of study that offer flexibility, choice and customization, therefore allowing them to earn a certificate or degree in the shortest time possible. Students can earn credentials that allow them to progress professionally while earning a degree or retraining for a new profession.”

When all instruction moved online during the COVID-19 pandemic, faculty worked to make even more degrees and certificates available entirely online so learning could continue. Hesitant students found success and quickly adapted to the flexibility of online learning. Now, those students know they can take classes from anywhere in the world with an Internet connection– and many love it! This change prompted an opportunity for a bold new direction for Jackson College and its students.

“Jackson College is positioning themselves for the future. We are trying to meet all our students where they are at, in whatever format they prefer, to assist them with their educational goals,” said Cindy Allen, chief legal, talent, equity & administrative officer.

Students can earn an associate degree to prepare for a specific career or they can prepare to transfer to a university. Jackson College Global’s unique online offerings include three sonography programs that are among only a few accredited online programs. Although some programs require students to be present for labs or clinical experiences, efforts are made to minimize any inconvenience. This includes partnering with clinical locations near students’ homes and providing more flexible scheduling options.

Jackson College Global fully incorporates the College’s Total Commitment to Student Success. This means providing services to help all students complete their programs and succeed. Students may take advantage of free online tutoring services, online library resources including a 24/7 chat, and even virtual mental health services from our campus Oasis Center and online appointments from the Health Clinic. Smaller online class sizes allow more opportunities to engage with faculty and connect with fellow students.

Jackson College Global can help new or returning college students complete their goals at an affordable cost. Semesters begin in fall, spring and summer, with five-week, seven-week or 15-week class options. Students may choose a schedule that best suits their needs and lifestyles.
