(May 18, 2023 10:24 AM ET) Three police department employees are being recognized for their service to the Jackson community. The Jackson Police Department (JPD) recently held its annual awards banquet where they honored the work of three staff members.
Officer of the Year: Tyler Panther
Officer Tyler Panther is currently assigned to a night shift patrol. He started with JPD as a cadet in 2018. After completing police academy training in 2020, he was promoted to police officer.
Civilian Employee of the Year: Kaytlin Steverson
Kaytlin has worked for JPD since 2017. She currently serves as the Administrative Secretary to the Director of Police and Fire Services.
Reserve Officer of the Year: Nikie Oechsle
Nikie has worked as a reserve officer since 2019.
The Jackson Police Department is regarded for its community-policing philosophy which aims to improve the quality of life for Jackson-area citizens, using problem-solving methods of fighting crime. The department prides itself on being one of the most professional and well-trained departments in Michigan. “These three employees are part of a dedicated team that goes above and beyond every day to serve Jackson residents and keep them safe,” said Elmer Hitt, Director of Police and Fire Services. “I thank them for their continued leadership and dedication to the community.”
