Jackson Public Schools Announces Andrew Sheridan 2023 Wall of Fame Honoree

(September 6, 2023 5:54 PM ET) Jackson Public Schools announced today that Andrew Sheridan has been selected as the 2023 Jackson Public Schools Wall of Fame Honoree.  Sheridan is a JPS retiree, having served the district as a long time teacher,  Varsity Boys Basketball Coach and Varsity Girls Basketball Coach

Andrew Sheridan coached the Varsity Boys Basketball Team at Jackson High School for 27 seasons beginning in 1980. He also coached the Girls Varsity Basketball Team for 5 seasons in the late 70’s and early 80’s. He amassed 382 Varsity wins during this time. His teams were successful in the postseason as well, accumulating 13 league championships, 10 district championships and 4 regional championships. His teams made it to the final four 3 different times and his 1981 girls team was state runner up.

Coach Sheridan was named AP Class A Coach of The Year for Girls in 1982 and was Special Mention in 1981. He earned League Coach of the year honors twice and BCAM Regional Coach of the Year three times.

Over the years, Coach Sheridan has served on the BCAM All-Star Selection Committee and the Jackson High School Hall of Fame Committee. He has been a speaker at many community events and helped with basketball clinics for the Jackson Recreation Department.

Coach Sheridan began working for Jackson Public Schools in October 1971, and retired June 30, 2005. He built many great relationships with his students, athletes, coaches and families over his career.

Coach Sheridan was inducted to the BCAM Hall of Fame in 2013 and the Michigan High School Coaches Association Hall of fame in 2022.
