(February 17, 2023 1:34 PM) The Eastern Branch of the Jackson District Library will close on Monday, February 20 for renovations and is scheduled to open in late 2023.

This project will include work to resurface the parking lot; update the building trim, downspouts, and gutters; and renovations of the interior to make the library more user-friendly including updates to the carpet, paint, lighting, and furniture.

“We plan to update or renovate all our branches in some capacity over the next couple of years,” JDL Director Liz Breed said. “Some branches may get updated furniture, carpet, paint, and more, while others may see extensive changes.”

JDL began the campaign in late 2020 with the renovation and expansion of the Brooklyn Branch. Most recently, the Spring Arbor Branch moved to a new location after contractors updated the former senior center at 122 Star Road in Spring Arbor.

The book drop will not be available during this time and holds on Eastern Branch material will have to be picked up at another location, with the default location being the Carnegie Library in downtown Jackson.

The JDL Bookmobile will be scheduled to park across the street from the Eastern Branch in the Rite Aid parking lot once or twice per week this spring, so patrons have access to the internet and materials in person.
