(August 7, 2024 9:33 PM ET) Students, teachers, and administrators working through the summer at Jackson High School received a nice bonus Wednesday.
They were treated to Mediterranean food thanks to Jackson Public School food providers from Taher and the Center for Family Health.
The Center for Family Health partnered with JPS for different events this week as part of the National Community Health Center Week.
Prep for the luncheon scheduled for Wednesday was started by Chef Danny Saghir to include chicken shawarma pita with tume garlic sauce, falafel rice bowl, and batata harra – zesty potatoes.
Saghir was called away to a family emergency Tuesday evening and the meal was finished by Chef David Hampton and the Taher Food Service employees – the food provider for JPS.
A CFH employee gave out small items to students and encouraged them to have his/her parent fill out a form in order for the organization to provide healthcare for students in JPS buildings.
Students received free food as part of the Meet Up, Eat Up nutritional program. Adults at the event paid $5 for his/her meal.
