Baseball

Michigan Center 11, Napoleon 4: The Cardinals scored seven times in the last two innings to earn the win. Tyler Husted earned the pitching win striking out for batters. Miles Stewart and Hunter Fredrickson each drove in a pair of runs for Michigan Center. Christian Nykamp finished with three hits for Napoleon in the loss.

Softball

Napoleon 6, Columbia Central 5: The Pirates scored all six runs in the first four innings. Jenna Yob collected two hits for Napoleon. Rylee Knapp led CCHS with two hits and two RBIs in the contest.

Columbia Central 5, Napoleon 1: The Golden Eagles scored five times in the bottom of the sixth inning to pull out the win. Kelsey Fausz finished with two hits and one RBI for CCHS and Hailey Wetherby struck out 11 batters on the mound. Napoleon was limited to three hits and Madi Breining finished with one hit and an RBI for the Pirates.

Michigan Center 9, Jonesville 7: The Cardinals remain undefeated on the season with a pair of wins over Jonesville. Kylie McKee finished with two hits and three RBIs and Mackenzie Fredrickson had three hits for MCHS.

Michigan Center 9, Jonesville 6: Michigan Center scored seven times in the last three innings to pull out the win. Mackenzie Fredrickson and Jadea Stevens each finished with two hits and two RBIs for the Cardinals.

Boys Track and Field

Maple Valley Tri-Meet: Concord defeated Maple Valley (93-41) but lost to Union City (70-66). The Chargers won the 1,600-meter relay to pull out the victory. Tyreke Brown won the 200-meter dash (24.04) and Conor Stevens won the high jump (5-8) for Concord. Girls Track and Field

Maple Valley Tri-Meet: The Yellowjackets defeated Maple Valley (97-20) but lost to Union City (73-64). Cieara Barrett won the 400-meter dash (1:05) and the 800-meter run (2:48) and Bradie Lehman took first in the 100-meter dash (13.45) and the 200-meter dash (28.06) for Concord. Girls Soccer

Tecumseh 4, Jackson 1

Napoleon 1, Jonesville 0: The Pirates won its first varsity soccer game as Makenzy Lindeman scored the historic goal with an assist by Meghan Smith. Joy Flack recorded 10 saves in net for Napoleon.

Manchester 3, Michigan Center 0: Abbie Hess finished with eight saves in net for the Cardinals.

Boys Lacrosse

Pinckney 8, Jackson 4: The match was tied at 4-all going into the final quarter. Luke Bergkoetter finished with three goals and Hikaru Matzen collected 21 saves in goal for Jackson.

College Sports Events

Golf

Spring Arbor at Albion Cascades Invitational: Albion won the men’s competition with a score of 292 for four golfers playing 18 holes at Cascades Golf Course. Spring Arbor finished second at 308. Blake Wagner of Albion shot a 1-under-par 71, teammate Ryno Knitter shot an even-par 72, and Brendan Jatrow finished with a 73 for Albion. Spring Arbor was led by Drew Veldman and Joe Swick with 75s. St. Mary’s won the women’s event with a score of 322. Julia Lizak shot a 76 and teammate Haley Angel carded a 77. Elle Bolkema of Spring Arbor was third overall scoring an 81.

Baseball

Spring Arbor 8, Siena Heights 7 (11 innings): Pinch hitter Jake Zeeb knocked in the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning for Spring Arbor. Due to rain earlier in the day, the two teams agreed to one nine-inning contest at SAU. Aiden Brunin, Braydon Gregory, and Seth Clothier hit home runs for the Cougars. Brunin finished with three hits on the night for SAU (18-22). The game was the first baseball game broadcast live on JTV.TV.
