Volleyball
Grass Lake 3, North Adams 0: Junior Ashleigh Simon finished with 17 kills, Mia Buttigieg tallied 26 assists, and Nadene Hubbard finished 22-for-22 at the service line with 18 points for Grass Lake.
Jackson at Loy Norrix: The Vikings finished 2-1 in a quad meet at Loy Norrix. Jackson defeated Bangor twice but lost to Kalamazoo Hackett.
Northwest 3, Michigan Center 1: The Mounties defeated Michigan Center 25-13, 25-10, 25-27, and 25-17 on the road Thursday. Charlotte Rusch finished with seven kills and Brinley Speer added 11 digs for the Mounties.
Boys Cross Country
Meckley’s Invitational: Hanover-Horton swept the top three spots as Landen Boulis was first (18:28), Blake Griffis finished second (20:52), and Zach Hassenzahl placed third (21:33). Alex Holda of Grass Lake finished fourth (21:33), teammate Connor Sherwood was fifth (21:35), and Corey Dubnicki of Jackson Prep placed sixth (21:46). Cooper Flick won the freshman/sophomore race for Hanover-Horton running 19:26 and teammate Chad Tyson was fourth at 20:04. Zack Buttigieg of Grass Lake was seventh overall in 21:09.
Girls Cross Country
Meckley’s Invitational: Grace Bullock of Grass Lake won the event (25:03) and teammate Taylor Hoppe was fifth (27:42) in the junior/senior race. Delainey Cottrell of Hanover-Horton finished fifth (27:56). Adalyn Jarchow of Grass Lake won the freshman/sophomore event in 24:04, Hanover-Horton runner Maisey Toteff was second (24:37), and Elise Bullock of Grass Lake placed third (25:09).

Girls Golf
Cascades Jamboree at Grande: Columbia Central easily won the jamboree at The Grande Golf Course in Vandercook Lake. The Golden Eagles shot 181, Concord was second at 235, East Jackson finished third at 238, Napoleon placed fourth at 247, Hanover-Horton finished fifth at 280, and Grass Lake was sixth with 287. Logan Bentley finished with a 2-under par 34 to lead CCHS and Anna McCubbins of Napoleon placed second with a 1-over-par 37. Marrisa Berro of CCHS was third (41), Hannah Stimer of Concord placed fourth (51), and Kelsey Fausz finished fifth (52) for CCHS.
Jackson at Dexter: The Vikings finished third in a tri-meet at Dexter. The home team won the event (172), Tecumseh was second (241), and Jackson was third (261). Avery White led Jackson with a 56.
Boys Tennis
Northwest 7, Hillsdale 1: The Mounties swept the singles’ competitions with wins by Mason Beecher, Gavin Rush, Nathan Cumings, and Reed Clark at Nos. 1-4 respectively.
Western at Chelsea Quad: The Panther finished fourth behind Brighton (20), Mason (13) and Chelsea (10). Lucas Parrott won a pair of matches at No. 1 singles and Aidan Carter took a pair of matches at No. 3 singles for Western.

Lawrence Tech 3, Spring Arbor 1: The Cougars lost in the opening round of the Onset Tournament at Ft. Wayne. Kendall Bollenbacher finished with 12 kills and Camy Wedge dished 27 assists for SAU. The Cougars rebounded in the second round defeating Indiana Northwest 3-1. Kirstyn Throop finished with 25 digs and Natasha Bickel tallied 10 kills for Spring Arbor.
Jackson College 3, Kalamazoo Valley 1: Gracen Hager led with 12 kills, Alivia Smith finished with 33 assists, Jaden Bates tallied 32 digs, and Allie Jarchow recorded six blocks at the net as Jackson College earned an opening night win. The Jets will host Siena Heights Tuesday at 6 p.m. for its second match of the season.
Men’s Soccer
Bethel (TN) 2, Spring Arbor 1: Kaelan Debbage scored for Spring Arbor at the 75-minute mark. All three goals were scored in the second half of the contest. Spring Arbor is now 1-1 on the young season.
