(March 5, 2022 10:07 PM) Lumen Christi Catholic High School bowler Jackson Kremer has quietly had a solid season for the Titans. 

On Saturday it became a lot better.

The LCCHS bowler earned a state individual title at M-66 Bowl on Saturday. 

Kremer qualified third with 1,230 during the six-game qualifying. He won four matches to claim a state title.

Jackson County bowlers claimed four of the top 16 spots in Division 4. 

Clayton Weir of Grass Lake was fourth (1,201), Damien Rodriguez of Vandercook Lake finished 10th (1,133), and Ben Childs of Hanover-Horton qualified 13th (1,131). 

Weir won three matches before losing to Kremer in the finals 441-398.

Childs lost to Weir in the opening round and Rodriguez also lost his first-round match. 

Logan Jahr of Northwest High School was the third best qualifier at the Michigan High School Athletic Association Division 2 individual tournament at Super Bowl in Canton.

He won one match but lost in the quarterfinal round. Jahr earned an all-state medal for placing in the top eight in the state.

Dustin Moeckel of Napoleon advanced to the quarterfinals in Division 3 at JAX 60. 

The NHS junior qualified sixth scoring 1,219 and won his opening match.

In Division 1 at Super Bowl in Canton, Lauren Webb of Jackson finished 41st, scoring 1,043 in the six-game qualifying. 

Alexa Brzyski of Napoleon finished 32nd with a score of 1,000 in qualifying at JAX 60.

In Division 4, Grass Lake teammates Taylor Mosher and Alyssa Schultz qualified in the top 16 moving to the stepladder tournament. Mosher finished the six-game qualifying with a  score of 1,029 and Schultz rolled 1,025. Vandercook Lake bowler Brianna Langley also finished in the top 16 with a qualifying score of 987.

In the stepladder portion of the tournament, Mosher won one match to advance to the top eight. She lost her next match, but earned an all-state medal for her efforts.

Both Schultz and Langley lost their opening round matches.

Gymnastics

MHSAA regional at Kenowa Hills: Jackson Area Gymnastics finished second at the Michigan High School Athletic Association regional on Saturday. JAG finished with a total of 139.15 to qualify for the state meet. The team is the defending state champions in gymnastics. Western finished sixth at the competition. The team state finals will be Friday at White Lake Lakeland High School and the individual finals on Saturday at WLLHS.
