Stephanie (Spoelstra) Kristovic has been named the new Principal of Lumen Christi Catholic School beginning July 1, 2016.  Stephanie graduated from Lumen Christi in 2004 as the valedictorian of her class.  After leaving high school, she graduated from Miami University, Honors College with a B.S. in Mathematics and Statistics and a B.A. in English Literature. Following her undergraduate degrees, she continued her education with a master’s in Education Administration from Dominican University.

In a letter to parents of Lumen Christi students, Lumen Christi President Elaine Crosby wrote:

“Mrs. Kristovic’s career has included time “giving back” through the organization Teach for America in the Chicago area.  She continued her career with Perspectives High School of Technology in South Chicago, first as a geometry teacher — and continuing through the organization to most recently principal of the school.”

The letter continues, “The core values of Lumen Christi: Live Faith, Achieve Excellence, Develop Character, Be Warm and Welcoming, and Promote Teamwork are part of Mrs. Kristovic’s inherent personality and professional style.  I am very confident that she will be able to continue the tradition of high academic achievement at Lumen Christi Catholic School.  The mission of the school is deeply rooted in her daily faith life, guided by her dedication to help all God’s children reach their full potential through Him.”

In the letter, Crosby shared a comment from Stephanie Kristovic:   “Growing up in Jackson, the Queen’s and Lumen Christi community impacted my mission in life tremendously, igniting my passion for learning and education.  I am honored and blessed to have the opportunity to return to the Jackson community with my family.  My husband and I are so excited for our daughters to grow up engaged with a parish, Catholic schools, and all the many benefits the Jackson area has to offer.  Lumen Christi has a tremendous staff, engaged parents, impactful supporters and benefactors across the community, and of course, wonderful students.  I am so eager to work with them to build upon the traditions of Lumen Christi and create a school and community that is an even greater asset to the students and families of the Jackson area.”

Crosby used the letter to thank the selection committee and the community for their prayers.  She noted, “I  am very excited about our future under the leadership of Mrs. Kristovic.  I hope you will join me in welcoming her back home.”
