(10-2-2026): It was a key game in the Cascades Conference – North division as Manchester improved to 5-1 and broke multiple records in a dominant 80-35 win on homecoming night, dropping the Leslie Blackhawks to 4-2.
The game started out in a back-and-forth affair with each team trading touchdowns until Manchester stopped Leslie and kept scoring to take the 24-14 lead to end the first quarter. The Flying Dutchmen did not look back after that.
Jayden Johnson broke off a 65 and a 70-yard touchdown run on the first play of back-to-back drives followed by a 20-yard passing touchdown on a swing pass from Donte Johnson to Brennan Woods. The tsunami of offense that rained down from the Dutchmen gave them a 48-21 lead at the half.
Halftime did not cool off the Dutch. Right out of the halftime break, they went on a five-play 68-yard drive aided by a Jayden Johnson 44-yard rush and a 13-yard touchdown run by Gavin Horky. After Woods picked off Joel Cranmore in the end zone, the Dutchmen flew 80 yards to the end zone again in 6 plays.
Down 64-21 in the fourth quarter, the Blackhawks responded with a 44-yard deep ball from Cranmore to Braydin Johnson and found him again for a 36-yard score.
Late in the fourth, Jayden Johnson broke the Manchester record for most touchdowns in a single game with an eight-yard rush for his seventh touchdown of the game.
Another program record Manchester broke on Friday is for most points in a game. They broke it with a final tally of 80 to Leslie’s 35.
Manchester’s Jayden Johnson ran for 367 yards, and a Flying Dutchmen record seven touchdowns on 18 carries and running for over 20 yards a touch. His three longest scores were 70, 65, and 47 yards.
Alongside him, Donte Johnson ran for 153 yards and two touchdowns on 13 carries, almost 12 yards a touch. He also threw once for 20 yards and a touchdown.
For Leslie, QB Joel Cranmore threw for 261 yards, 4 TDs and an interception while rushing for 106 yards on 10 carries. His number one option, Braydin Johnson, caught 10 balls for 197 yards and four touchdowns.
This record-breaking performance moves the Flying Dutchmen up to 5-1 as they hope to carry the momentum into next week’s match up at Vandercook Lake. The loss drops Leslie to 4-2; they’ll look to bounce back as they travel to Hanover-Horton to take on the 5-1 Comets, a potential D7 playoff preview. Manchester can tie with the Blackhawks for first in the North division with a win over VCL next week, and now holds the head-to-head tiebreaker. Both games will take place on Friday October 9th at 7pm.
