Northwest High School has advanced a wrestler to the individual state championship final round for three consecutive years. Last year Jeff Miller wrestled in the 144-pound state final in Division 2.

Michigan High School Athletic Association wrestling tournaments kick off Wednesday with team districts.

Winners of each district advance to the regional rounds next week with a chance to head to the MHSAA team finals later in the month.

Individual districts are Saturday at various locations. The top four individuals in each weight class advance to regionals on Feb. 15.

The girls’ individual districts are split into eight district sites. The top four in each weight class also advance to the regional level on Feb. 16.

The MHSAA has instituted a team title for girls wrestling based on points each wrestler earns at the state meet Feb. 28 and March 1. It is the old system used by the MHSAA until the late 1980s so it is important to advance as many wrestlers as possible to Ford Field.

Here are the listings for each of the district tournaments.
