Napoleon Improves to 3-0; Spoils Opening of Jonesville’s New Field

(9-11-2026): Napoleon handed Jonesville their first loss of the season on their brand new field in week three on Friday.

Both the Pirates and Comets started hot on defense forcing turnover on downs, but it was the Pirates who got their offense afloat first. After a few carries picking up chunks of yardage, Zavior Skog broke away from the Comet defenders for a 38-yard touchdown run to put the Pirates in the pole position, up 6-0.

Napoleon gets right back to work after forcing another turnover on downs. The Pirates get more chunk plays that average over five yards on six carries, then Jayden Servis snaps off a 25 yard touchdown rush to extend the Napoleon lead to 12 with 5:28 left in the first half.

In their own territory with time running out in the half, the Comets decide to punt on fourth and six; giving Napoleon the ball back with 1:13 left in the second quarter on their own 45. The Pirates immediately flip the field with a couple of 20+ yard carries from Skog that lead to a 10 yard touchdown from Servis to give the Pirates an 18-0 lead at the half.

The second half started how the first ended, a Comet punt leading to a Pirate touchdown. Skig started the drive off with an 18 yard carry and after several more plays of chunk yardage, Gage Breining found his way into the end zone on a two yard rush; Pirates extended their advantage to 24.

John Milks, who had a productive first half for the Comets, including 69 total yards on 14 touches, kept producing in the third quarter. He had three carries to start the drive for a total of seven yards, then exploded through a gap for a 56 yard rushing touchdown; the first Comet touchdown on Dana Lunger and Bill Dunn Field; Pirates led 24-6.

An unsuccessful Comet onside kick gave Napoleon the ball at the Jonesville 40-yard line. The Pirates responded in quick order to get their lead to 32-6. Gage Breining rushed for 8, and Marcello Flores handled the rest, rushing for 32 yards and the score.

Comets’ running back, Max Young, took over the fourth quarter rushing for 43 yards and a touchdown in the final period alone, on only seven carries; but the Pirates still prevailed and stayed undefeated with a final score of 32-12.

Napoleon’s Zavior Skog went for 148 yards on the ground and a touchdown on 15 carries, almost averaging 10 yards a carry. His running mate, Jayden Servis, went for over 12 yards per carry with 73 yards and two touchdowns on 6 rushes. Along with those two, Gage Breining and Marcello Flores made up the four Pirates to plant their flag in the end zone.

Jonesville’s John Milks had 134 rush yards on 22 carries and a touchdown along with 21 yards on two catches for a total of 155 all purpose yards. Max Young also scored for the Comets and ran for 44 yards on eight attempts.

Next, Napoleon will play a Comets team for the second week in a row, this time the 2-1 Hanover-Horton Comets at home. Jonesville will head to Colombia Central to take on the undefeated Golden Eagles. Both games will be on Friday September 18th at 7pm.
