Jets Athletic Director Heather Bateman named 2018-19 MCCAA AD of the Year

Jackson College Athletic Director Heather Bateman has been named the 2018-19 Michigan Community College Athletic Director of the Year. The Athletic Director of the Year committee selected Bateman from several nominees.  JTV Sports | June 11th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Heather Bateman, Jackson College's Athletic Director, has been named the 2018-19 Michigan Community College Athletic Director of the Year. The Athletic Director of the Year committee selected Bateman from several nominees. Bateman oversees an athletic department that has 13 successful sports including men's bowling that won the MCCAA Championship in their very first season. The women's soccer team was second in the in the MCCAA and won the NJCAA Region XII regular season and post-season title. Bateman also holds several sports chairs in the MCCAA and is the secretary/treasurer for NJCAA Region XII, according to a Jackson College press release. She also hosted the MCCAA Golf and MCCAA Baseball Tournament this spring.  “I am honored and humbled to receive this award. Jackson College Pitcher to play baseball at Purdue University

Jackson College Pitcher, Eric Hildebrand has committed to finish his college baseball career at Purdue University. The Boilermaker baseball team was 13-10 at home this season. JTV Sports | June 11th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson College Pitcher, Eric Hildebrand has committed to finish his college baseball career at Purdue University. The Freshman finished this season with a 5-1 record and a 2.83 ERA. The Jets baseball team finished an impressive 31-15 this season. That included a 22-6 conference record. A winning clip of over 78%. Hildebrand will now be a short three hour and 49 minute drive from Jackson's campus. Two Michigan Center Students Sign to Play Baseball at Glen Oak

Two Michigan Center student athletes have signed to attend Glen Oaks. Cardinals baseball players Jordan Cooper and Andy Piloske will now be playing for the Vikings in Centreville, Michigan. JTV Sports | May 31st, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Two Michigan Center student athletes have signed to attend Glen Oaks and play baseball for the Vikings. The Cardinal baseball players, Jordan Cooper and Andy Piloske will now be playing in Centreville, Michigan. Jordan Cooper both pitches and plays first base. Andy Piloske plays second base. Both of them will now be playing same positions at the next level. Cooper is in a rare situation, where he'll be playing both. Piloske is currently hitting an impressive .384. That figure is good for 10 doubles and 3 triples on the year. Cooper is hitting .493 overall. Good for 11 doubles and five home runs, as well as a total of 36 RBIs. He has pitched 52.2 innings and maintains a record of 9-1. With 80 total strikeouts, he currently has a 1.72 ERA. Northwest Baseball Sweeps Manchester

Northwest's Baseball team swept Manchester in a pair of contests on their Senior night. The Mounties won by tallies of 8-0 and 10-2. This was also their final pair of home contests this year. JTV Sports | May 30th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Northwest High School's baseball team closed out their home appearances this season in proper fashion, sweeping a pair of contests against Manchester. Not only was it the Mounties final pair of home games for the year, but it was also Senior Night for the program. The Northwest Mounties won the first contest by a tally of 8-0. The second win came more easily, with a final of 10-2. Seniors closing out their playing careers included Dakota Hitt, Gibson Wait, Sawyer Epstein, Brandon Bostwick, and Bailey Bostwick. Gibson Wait pitched seven innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out four and walking one in the first contest. Sawyer Epstein pitched for Northwest in the second game. He allowed one hit and one run over three innings, striking out one and walking zero. Pirates Host Cardinals in Baseball

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– The Michigan Center Cardinals Varsity Baseball team traveled to Napoleon, Michigan to face off with the Napoleon Pirates on May 8th, 2019. The teams came into the contest with records of 17-2 (Cardinals) and 16-0 (Pirates). The teams split the double header. The first match went to Michigan Center. The Cardinals bested the Pirates by a tally of 9-8 after ten innings of play. In the second contest, the Pirates came away with a win. After six innings the final score was 3-1. "We have a group of seniors that have been with us for four years," said Napoleon's Head Coach Jeff Mohr. "They're a great group of kids. They set the tone in the off-season. Worked hard. Lifted." As of today, Michigan Center's record is 17-3. Head Coach Jerry Slack, in his 15th year coaching High School sports, is very optimistic about what is coming down the stretch. Napoleon now stands at 18-2 on the season. Spring Arbor University has 5 named to All-Crossroads Team

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Chris Bauman Spring Arbor, Michigan– The Spring Arbor University baseball team has been honored with five selections to the All-Crossroads League teams, the league office announced on Thursday. Seniors Chris Triplett, Conner Lengerich and Duncan Patterson were selected to the all-league team while Lengerich also was awarded a Gold Glove. Earning Honorable Mention recognition was junior Gavin Harris and sophomore Evan Lorey. Triplett, a four-year starter, capped off his outstanding career by earning his first all-league honor. After receiving honorable mention honors a season ago, the senior shortstop enjoyed his best season as a Cougar in 2019, setting career-highs in every offensive category. He led the team in batting average (.377), hits (66), runs scored (53), home runs (10) and stolen bases (25) while also ranking top-three in the Crossroads League in each of those category. His 10 home runs were the most by an SAU player since 2009 when Eric Vojkofsky belted 12. Over his career, Triplett has played in 188 games, which is tied for the eighth-most in the program's 56-year history.
