Jets Athletic Director Heather Bateman named 2018-19 MCCAA AD of the Year

Jackson College Athletic Director Heather Bateman has been named the 2018-19 Michigan Community College Athletic Director of the Year. The Athletic Director of the Year committee selected Bateman from several nominees.  JTV Sports | June 11th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Heather Bateman, Jackson College's Athletic Director, has been named the 2018-19 Michigan Community College Athletic Director of the Year. The Athletic Director of the Year committee selected Bateman from several nominees. Bateman oversees an athletic department that has 13 successful sports including men's bowling that won the MCCAA Championship in their very first season. The women's soccer team was second in the in the MCCAA and won the NJCAA Region XII regular season and post-season title. Bateman also holds several sports chairs in the MCCAA and is the secretary/treasurer for NJCAA Region XII, according to a Jackson College press release. She also hosted the MCCAA Golf and MCCAA Baseball Tournament this spring.  “I am honored and humbled to receive this award. Jackson Native Joins Biggest Hitters in Golf for World Long Drive Tour

Chad Cesarz, a Jackson, Michigan native, has been selected to partake in the Volvik World Long Drive Championship event. The World Long Drive Association is an organization that brings together golf’s longest hitters from around the globe.  JTV Sports | June 10th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Despite having to battle excessive wind conditions Mesquite, Nevada, six hitters became the latest names to punch their ticket into the 2019 Volvik World Long Drive Championship. This included Jackson, Michigan native Chad Cesarz. The Lumen Christi alum will take part in the next Volvik World Long Drive Championship event, which is scheduled to take place August 30th through September 4th. The two day event will be held in Thackerville, Oklahoma, at WinStar Golf Course. "It's pretty exciting to be able to represent Jackson on a stage like this. Jets Golfer named honorable mention All-American

Jackson College Jets golfer Riley Hestwood has been named an honorable mention All-American following last week’s National Junior College Athletic Association Division II Nationals. JTV Sports | May 30th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Jackson College Jets golfer Riley Hestwood has been named an honorable mention All-American following last week’s NJCAA Division II Nationals. Hestwood, a freshman at Jackson College, finished in a tie for 24th place out of a field of 132 total golfers. After four days of golf, eight games in four rounds, Hestwood finished at 17 over par. “Riley did an excellent job playing the four days under difficult conditions at times,” said Walt Paszkiet, head coach of the Jet's program. “He managed his game very well. Jackson can be very proud of this young man” All-America honors are presented to the top 26 finishers (plus ties) at the NJCAA DII Men's Golf Championship. Julia Lefere signs with Lawrence Tech

Julia Lefere has signed with Lawrence Tech. Julia will continue her golf career while at Lawrence Tech. Julia earned 4 varsity letters and competed in multiple State Finals at Northwest.  JTV Sports | May 21st, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Another pair of Jackson Area Athlete signings have been announced. Both of the Northwest Community School's athletes and their signings were announced yesterday. Senior Julia Lefere signed to continue her academic and athletic career at Lawrence Tech. Julia will continue to golf in college. Julia earned 4 varsity letters and competed in multiple State Finals while golfing at Northwest. Julia was also a 4 year soccer player for the Mounties soccer program.  Lawrence Technological University, frequently referred to as Lawrence Tech, is a private university in Southfield, Michigan. Conley Named All-Crossroads League

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Chris Bauman Spring Arbor, Michigan– Spring Arbor University senior Cameron Conley closed out his outstanding career by earning his first All-Crossroads League selection, as announced by the league office Wednesday. Conley becomes Spring Arbor's first all-league performer since the 2014-15 season when Cody Lysher secured the honor. The Grand Ledge, Michigan product put together a spectacular campaign in his final season with the Cougars. He placed in the top-three in a total of three events, including one runner-up finish, and recorded the best scoring average of his four-year career, posting a team-leading 74.6 in 18 rounds played. His season-low round was a five-under par 67 he fired at the Lou Collins Memorial Classic at Bedford Valley Golf Club in the fall, which tied the program's all-time record set by SAU Hall of Famer Roy Adair in 2001 at the same course. Conley has either ranked first or second on the team in scoring average in each of his four seasons. He has 10 career top-10 finishes and eight career top-5 finishes. Conley's name litters the SAU record book. Along with sharing the program's best 18-hole score, he holds the third-best 36-hole score (142) and the fifth-best 54-hole…
