Grass Lake Recognizes “Tri-Athletes”

Grass Lake has officially recognized 35 "Tri-Athletes." The Warrior athletes earned distinction for their participation in all three of the high school sports seasons. JTV Sports | May 30th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– Grass Lake has officially recognized 35 students as "Tri-Athletes." They serve as the the inaugural group of three season athletes. The Warrior athletes earned distinction for their participation in all three of the high school sports seasons (fall, winter and spring). As many kids got closer to high school, they begin to narrow the field of their sports participation, some by choice and the natural culling process. Others because someone else thinks it's best. Many now end up playing only one sport. Multi sport athletes see a variety of benefits. These range from fewer overuse injuries, less opportunity for emotional burn-out, exposure to different kids and even exposure to different roles. Virginia Coney Island Currently First in USA Today Poll

JTV Entertainment | May 29th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– 649 E Michigan Ave. is a sacred address in Jackson, Michigan. And no, before you ask, we didn't get paid to write this. I grew up here in Jackson, and I can attest, this love is well deserved. This is a restaurant that has so much love for what comes out of the kitchen, we want to love the kitchen back. Virginia Coney opened in 1914 and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Its famous coney dog is made up of their coney sauce, onions and mustard. It costs just $1.50. It’s thought that Greek immigrants popularized the dish. Detroit-style Coneys use a meaty chili sauce, while Jackson-style Coneys feature a dryer loose meat sauce, often called Coney sauce rather than chili. Jackson is the birthplace of the Coney Island Hot Dog. "I eat 'em every day," said Tommy Boadgieff to JTV in 2015. Boadgieff owned Tommy's Hot Dogs. "A hot dog a day keeps the Doctor away, never mind the apple." Virginia Coney Island has been a Jackson favorite since 1914. The menu features classic diner favorites, including a lunch special featuring two Coneys, a bag of chips and…

Torey Higgs of Vandercook Lake High School has signed to play basketball at Siena Heights University in Adrian. Higgs earned multiple varsity letters while at Vandy, and made huge contributions on the floor for the program. The Jayhawks finished their 2018-2019 campaign with an overall record of 11-10. Their season started hot however. Really hot. The team strung together a 6-1 record to open the year- with their only loss by a margin of a single bucket. Just one year ago the team only won a pair of games, going 2-19. Those days are long gone for Vandercook Lake’s varsity basketball team. This means a lot to the schools. We want our kids to go off to college and better themselves. It's a bonus he gets to play and gets a scholarship. This is also great for our program because…
