MHSAA Changes to Soccer, Basketball and More for 2019-2020

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– The Michigan High School Athletic Association is tweaking the basketball playoff system following their May 5th and 6th meeting. Several changes are being made at the district level. Beginning with the 2019-20 school year, girls and boys basketball and soccer will employ a seeding process to place the top two teams in every District on opposite sides of that bracket, guaranteeing those two teams could not play each other before the District championship game. The district pairings will be set two weeks before the postseason begins. Teams not seeded first or second will be randomly placed in the district bracket. MHSAA Changes to HS Football for 2020

JTV Sports | May 10th, 2019 | Gabriel Schray Jackson, Michigan– The Michigan High School Athletic Association is tweaking the high school football playoff system. Beginning in the fall of 2020, a team’s strength of schedule will be the main factor in whether a school is in or out of the 256-team playoff field. Schools will now be rewarded, even if they lose, for playing against a quality opponent. Spring Arbor Soccer Pegged at No. 2

JTV Sports | November 7th, 2018 Spring Arbor, Michigan-- The Spring Arbor University women’s soccer team moved up one spot to No. 2 in the final regular season edition of the NAIA Women’s Soccer Coaches’ Top 25 Poll, released by the national office Tuesday. Southeastern (Fla.) is the new No. 1. The program received 479 points and eight first place votes, while the Cougars trailed behind with 478 points and four first place votes. William Carey (Miss.), the previous top-ranked team, fell to No. 3 in the rankings with Vanguard (Calif.) and Martin Methodist (Tenn.) rounding out the top-five. Spring Arbor ended the regular season with a share of the Crossroads League title. They earned the No. 1-seed for the Crossroads League Tournament. The Cougars cruised through the first two rounds of the tournament last week, and now have their sights set on their ninth consecutive tournament title as they take on second-seeded, and No. 13 ranked, Grace College in the championship match. The Crossroads League Tournament Championship between Spring Arbor (16-1-1) and Grace (18-2-0) is set for Saturday, November 10th starting at 3pm from the Cougar Soccer Complex.
