(July 28, 2020 12:24 PM) Most Reverend Earl Boyea, Bishop of the Diocese of Lansing, has named Mr. Timothy DeWitt of Jackson as the new President of Lumen Christi Catholic School and Executive Director of the  Jackson Catholic Schools system.

Mr. DeWitt has an extensive background with organizational leadership, strategic planning, financial analysis and treasury management. Since 2008, he has served Albion College in various aspects as the Chief Financial Officer, Chief Risk Officer, Chief Investment Officer, Budget Director, and Treasurer. Prior to his work in higher education, Mr. DeWitt served as a Senior Vice President for La Salle Bank and Financial Planning and Analysis Manager for Borders Group, Inc.

“I am honored to serve as the next president and executive director,” said DeWitt upon his appointment of being announced. “My professional journey has allowed me to have hands-on experience transforming the financial health and operation of an international bank as well as an institution of higher learning. I am proud of the leadership and collaborative roles I have played through the years, and am excited to answer the call to not only live my Catholic faith, but to share and participate in true faith based education.”

Tom Maloney, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Lansing, stated, “Tim is a proven, successful leader with a real passion for Catholic education. He brings a wealth of experience, deep faith and a commitment to excellence to his new role. I am excited to welcome Tim and his wife, Colleen, to our Jackson Catholic Schools community.”

Mr. DeWitt has a Bachelor of Science from Central Michigan University, where he majored in Finance and Economics. He also completed an Advanced Business Program certificate at the Executive School of Management. 

No stranger to the Jackson area, Mr. DeWitt and his wife have been active members of Saint Mary Star of the Sea parish for the past 35 years and are proud Lumen Christi alumni along with their two sons.
