(8-8-2024, 12:00PM): No storylines, just go out and play Jackson football. That’s the Jackson Vikings’ message this year.
After missing the playoffs at 4-5 in 2023 for the first time in five seasons, they look to bounce back and be a contender again in the SEC for 2024.
Head Coach Antonio Parker returns to the helm of the Vikings for a third season, while Rob Dillon (8th year) and Will Derr (3rd year) return as the offensive and defensive coordinators.
“He’s a funny guy. He motivates the kids and makes them work. Does a lot for the kids on and off the field. He will never be outworked by anybody” says the players of Parker.
Key returners for the Vikings in 2024 include all-conference Senior Quarterback Cyron Stamper, Senior Running Back Bryce Nastally, all-conference Senior Kardair Sumner, along with Zyair Simpson, Shea Hahnle, and Blair Pippen.
This year’s Vikings team is also a bit younger, especially up front on the line, but nonetheless the team expects it all to come together and play usual Jackson football. Jackson returns just one starter on offense along with three on defense.
5 players from last year’s team are now playing collegiate sports, including three of them playing football.
