WEEK 4 HS FOOTBALL
Northwest 26, Parma Western 14: The Mounties stun the Panthers and win the rivalry game for the first time since 2013. Our JTV Tri-County Water ‘Player of the Game’ was Northwest QB Jonathon Osterberg, who ran for nearly 200 yards with three touchdowns to lead his team. Dallas Higelmire and Roe DeDeaux also scored TDs for the Mounties. Northwest wins their first game of the year and improves to 1-3 overall. Western falls to 1-3.
Leslie 34, Michigan Center 32: It was a thrilling game between these two teams for the third straight season, with the Blackhawks getting revenge this time. Leslie QB Joel Cranmore hit Braydin Johnson for the game-winning touchdown with nine seconds left to win it. Cranmore finished 10/18 passing for 181 yards with three touchdowns plus two rushing. Braydin Johnson had 9 receptions for 179 yards and 3 TDs. Patrick Friese added 14 carries for 154 yards. Leslie is now 3-1 overall, and Michigan Center falls to 2-2.
Stockbridge 58, East Jackson 8: The Panthers pick up their first win of the season, winning a blowout Big 8 conference matchup. QB Evan Killinger threw for 133 yards and two touchdowns for Stockbridge. Domenic Ciminelli ran for two TDs to lead the Panthers’ rushing attack. Stockbridge is now 1-3 overall, while East Jackson falls to 0-4.
Springport 21, Vermontville Maple Valley 14: The Spartans win a close conference game on the road to improve to 3-1 overall. Sophomore QB Rip Overweg continues to impress, completing 6 of 10 passes plus 80 rushing yards. Easton Merrill rushed for 108 yards and two touchdowns, and Andon Zeinert led the defense with 18 tackles.
Columbia Central 31, Jonesville 14: The Golden Eagles continue the revenge tour from last season, winning a huge conference game at home. Trent Troyer became the school’s all-time leader in receiving yards with the win. Bauston Pilaczynski had 7 carries for 112 yards and 2 TDs, and QB Sammy Truax threw for 118 yards with a TD. Dylan Penix and Elias Losey each had two interceptions to lead the Golden Eagles defense. CC remains unbeaten at 4-0 and has another major conference showdown with Hanover Horton next Friday.
Manchester 46, Grass Lake 0: HC Josh Lindeman and the Dutch improve to 3-1 overall with a dominating shutout win on the road. Grass Lake falls to 0-4.
Hanover Horton 45, Napoleon 14: Hanover-Horton went down 8-0, then outscored Napoleon 45-6 the rest of the way to take the lead in the Cascades-South division with a Week 4 win. Austyn Hocter rushed for 154 yards on 12 attempts with three touchdowns for the Comets, Kolin Griffiths led the defense with 17 tackles. Zavior Skog rushed for over 160 yards with two touchdowns for Napoleon. Napoleon will be heading to Bellinger Field to take on Addison, while Hanover-Horton will be at home taking on Columbia Central next week.
Concord 60, Britton Deerfield 48: QB Wyatt Mandrelle threw for a whopping 432 yards and seven touchdowns for the Yellowjackets. Darrell Dean Jr. caught 13 passes for 281 yards and five TDs. Concord improves to 2-2 overall.
Addison 36, Vandercook Lake 27: After a big first half lead for VCL, the Panthers would make a major rally to win a high-scoring affair. Addison wins its first game of the season, improving to 1-3 overall. This marks the first win at the helm of Addison for first year Head Coach Casey Ruthenberg. Vandercook Lake falls to 1-3.
Lumen Christi 40, Ann Arbor FGR 10: The Titans continue to put up 40-plus points per game, dominating another Catholic League opponent and winning at home. LC is now 4-0 and hosts a major game next Friday vs Toledo Central Catholic.
Jackson 27, Ypsilanti Community 8: The Vikings have now won back-to-back games as they won on the road on Friday. Jackson is now 2-2 overall.
