Lumen Christi vs Eaton Rapids Football

State Representatives Comment on Government Shutdown

64th District State Representative Earl Poleski and 65th District State Representative Mike Shirkey both commented on the effects of this month's government shutdown.  Both felt the effects on the state were minimal and expect Congress will be back in the same situation within 3 months.  Both had updates on current legislation in Lansing.  Other guests:  Andy Woell, General Materials, with Builder Walk;  Steve George, Jackson District Library Eastern Branch Manager;  Jessica Lutz, American 1 Credit Union and Katie Anderson, Jackson Interfaith Shelter with "Soup Wars" event next Saturday at the American 1 Events Center from 11am to 3pm;  movie reviews with Dave DeBaker;  Bart goes to school with JPS Transportation.

SAU Names Alumnus of the Year

Spring Arbor University has named Judith Ganton the 2013 Alumnus of the Year, honoring her for her service to the community and the University.  Judi shared some of her reasons for her support and involvement with SAU on today's show.  Other guests:  Zach Perfitt, Principal and Katie Ambs, Intervention Director, Paragon Charter Academy;  Jackson High students Rashaun Nixon, Tyra Williams and Thomas Griffin-Johnson, members of Vikings for Change;  Michelle Moore, owner of Not So Shabby, Oh! So Chic and Victoria Beaman, Kiss & Make-up;  Jane Robinson, Executive Director, Reading Writing Connection;  Pet of the Week with Cascades Humane Society's Sue Lovell.
