St. Patrick’s Weekend Activities

"5 O'clock in Dublin" will headline a pair of shows this weekend to celebrate St. Patrick's Day.  The Marshall, MI band plays contemporary Irish, traditional Irish and Celtic pub music and is composed of Tony Shapow, Missy Shapow, Jeff Rosenzweig, and Tim Vander Mey.  They performed a pair of original songs on today's show.  They will be at Grand River Marketplace Sunday afternoon from 1 to 4 and at Sandhill Crane Vineyards from 6 to 8:30pm.  The Sandhill Crane Vineyards show is a dinner and wine pairing event and reservations are required by calling 764-0679.  Other guests:  Candidate for 64th District State Representative Brenda Pilgrim;  St. Joseph Mercy Hospital CEO Rob Casalou, colorectal surgeon Dr. Robert Cleary and cancer survivor Johnny Mitchell observing Colon Cancer Awareness Month;  Jackson College students Destiny Densmore and Misty Emerson, Alternative Breaks Interest Group;  Movie reviews with Dave DeBaker;  Ric Walton, The Walton Insurance Group.

Recreation Department Plans Improvements

Kelli Hoover, Director of City of Jackson Parks, Recreation, Ground and Cemeteries announced several improvement projects will begin this spring.  New basketball and tennis courts, playground equipment and wrought-iron fencing will be added to Bloomfield Park on Michigan Avenue.  Plans are also being finalized for amenities to be added to Austin Blair Park on Greenwood Avenue.  Other guests:  Jim Dunn, Summit Township Supervisor;  "Money Matters" with Jeff Matzen, Matzen Financial;  Andy Farmer, AARP Michigan Associate State Director; Ron Douglass, Jackson Community Concert Band.

Grass Lake Business Expo

The Grass Lake Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the annual Spring and Business Expo this weekend at Grass Lake High School.  Chamber President and Village Manager Tom Nolte has lined up more than 80 vendors, entertainment, food, kids games and prizes for the two day event.  Doors open on Saturday at 10am, Sunday at 12Noon.  There is no admission charge.  Other guests:  John Ortega, Director of Philanthropy, Jackson College;  Jackson City Manager Patrick Burtch;  Jane Robinson, Executive Director, Reading Writing Connection;  Sue Lovell, Cascades Humane Society with "Pet of the Week".

27th Annual Jackson High Ambassador’s Dinner
