Ella Sharp Museum Announces New Executive Director

The Ella Sharp Museum Board of Trustees announced that Diane Gutenkauf will assume the role of Executive Director for the Museum starting in January. The selection was made after a robust search and selection process focused on selecting a visionary and innovative leader for a growing organization which now includes, in addition to the Merriman-Sharp Hillside Farm and Mildred I. Hadwin Center for Art and History, the award-winning Cell Block 7, Michigan’s Prison Museum, and the Peter F. Hurst Planetarium. Gutenkauf most recently served as the Director of the Robert R. McCormick Museum in Wheaton, Illinois, as well as the Interim Director of the Illinois Association of Museums.  Her resume includes over 30 years of progressively responsible Museum and non-profit experience. She has a Master’s degree in Anthropology from Northern Arizona University and a Certificate in Museum Studies from the University of Wisconsin.  Gutenkauf has a national reputation in the Museum field and has served on several museum association boards, including the Illinois Association of Museums, the Association of Midwest Museums, and the National Association of Museum Exhibition.       “I am honored the Ella Sharp Museum Board has chosen me as their next Executive Director. Pirates can finally clinch playoff spot with victory at East Jackson

By Mike Moore Staff Writer   Jackson — The 10-year drought has a chance to end.   A decade of close calls, near misses and headaches can all be put to rest.   All it takes now is one win for the Napoleon football team.   One more win, that is.   “It’s a righteous feeling right now,” coach Scott Ashe said about his team’s chance to clinch a playoff spot Friday night at East Jackson. “The kids see what the dedication and hard work and discipline can do. We’ve had some good teams build up to this. This group believes in itself.”   After starting 0-2, Napoleon has won five games in a row, including last Friday’s 35-17 victory over Manchester.   The Pirates haven’t reached the playoffs since the 2005 team went 6-3.   And while the Trojans are struggling, sitting at 1-6 overall and losers of five in a row, nothing will come easy for Napoleon.   “We’re banged up right now, which is tough,” Ashe said.   The team’s leading rusher and receiver, Greg Weatherspoon, is scheduled to miss the game with an ankle injury.   While he’s the highest-profile player to miss the game, he’s…

Mike Overton on The Bart Hawley Show

Jackson County Administrator Michael Overton announced the county will be spending $30 million on road projects over the next three years.  The county plans to borrow the money through the sale and issuance of bonds.  This will result in major construction on numerous county roads and streets over the three year period.  Mike explains the details on today's Bart Hawley Show.
