Scattered Showers and Thunderstorms

Expect humid conditions today with occasional showers and thunderstorms as a low pressure system tracks through Wisconsin.  Friday will be breezy, cooler, and less humid with some lingering clouds and light showers. Events of Thursday, August 17, 2017

The Napoleon Branch of the Jackson District Library presents the Annual Summer Book Sale.  Join us at the Napoleon Branch, today during open hours, for our annual summer book sale. Items are priced individually or fill a bag for $2.  Materials for all ages. Today’s hours are 1pm to 6pm. The Green Market at Henry Ford Allegiance Health is open today from 9 AM to 2 PM.  Local, sustainable and organic produce and Michigan-made items are featured.  Located across from the main hospital building on East Michigan Avenue. The Kiwanis Summer Kids Series continues today with “The Lego Movie” at the Michigan Theatre.  Showtimes are 10am and 2pm.  Admission is $1.  Sponsored by the Kiwanis Clubs of Jackson and Brooklyn.  Doors open one half hour before showtime. MDOT and County Plan Upcoming Road Closures

The Michigan Department of Transportation and the Jackson County Department of Transportation have announced several road closures and detours during construction projects. MDOT has announced Page Avenue over US-127 will be closed from approximately 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 19th for maintenance. A detour will be posted when the bridge is closed.  TheJackson County Department of Transportation will close Kimmel Road between South Jackson Road and Hague Avenue, on Monday, August 21, 2017. The road will be closed to through traffic to replace an 11’ span concrete box culvert. Work on this project is expected to be completed in two weeks, weather permitting. Motorists are advised to follow the posted detours, and to seek alternate routes. The Jackson County Department of Transportation, in collaboration with Rives Township and the Jackson & Lansing Railroad Co.,will close Henry Road between Rives Junction Road and Churchill Road, on Monday, August 28, 2017, to reconstruct the railroad crossing and approach. The road will be closed to through traffic for approximately one week, weather permitting. On September 6, 2017 our collaborative team will close Broughwell Road between Rives Junction Road and Churchill Road to through traffic to reconstruct another railroad crossing and approach.  This…

Mostly Sunny and Pleasant

High pressure will provide pleasant weather today. Low pressure tracking northeast through Wisconsin on Thursday will send very humid air into the region that will help trigger numerous showers and thunderstorms. Some of the storms could be strong and produce torrential rainfall.
