Spring Arbor University Invites Community to Fall Commencement

Photo:  courtesy Spring Arbor University Spring Arbor University invites the community to its 2017 Fall Commencement service on Saturday, November 18 at 11 a.m. No tickets are needed for the ceremony, which will be held in the Fieldhouse on SAU’s Spring Arbor, Michigan campus. The Commencement address will be given by Marvin Williams, the Lead Pastor of Trinity Church in Lansing, Michigan. Pastor Williams is a regular writer for Our Daily Bread and Our Daily Journey. He also blogs at www.marvinlwilliams.com. Pastor Williams, with his wife Tonia and three children — Marvin Jr., Micah, and Mikayla — live in Haslett, Michigan. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live streamed online. Three Cougars earn Crossroads League Player of the Week honors

SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – Three Spring Arbor University student-athletes earned Crossroads League Player of the Week recognition for their performances last week, the league office announced Monday.     Paul Marandet – Men’s Basketball The Crossroads League has named Spring Arbor University sophomore Paul Marandet the Men's Basketball Player of the Week.   Marandet averaged 18.3 points, 4.0 rebounds and 7.7 assists per game last week to lead Spring Arbor to three wins, including one over No. 1 Cornerstone University. In the game against Cornerstone, Marandet scored a team-high 20 points with six assists and six boards while also coming up with three steals. He also had his first career double-double against Aquinas College a day earlier with 17 points and a career-high 10 assists.   The sophomore from Warsaw, Indiana currently leads the NAIA in assists with 23.   Spring Arbor (3-0) will host the University of Michigan-Dearborn (2-1) on Wednesday, Nov. 1 starting at 7:30 p.m.     Janum Sailor – Men’s Soccer Spring Arbor University junior Janum Sailor has been named the Crossroads League Men's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week after recording one goal and two assists in wins over Bethel College and Marian University last…

Happy Halloween!  Trick or Treat Hours in Jackson and surrounding communities are 6 PM to 8 PM. Trunk R Treat at the Jackson YMCA.  The Safe Kids Family Fun Trunk R Treat will be in the YMCA Parking Lot from 6 PM to 8 PM.  A safe trick-or-treating alternative for kids.  Candy, hats and gloves will be given out.  Hot dogs and hot chocolate at St. Paul’s too! Western High School Trunk or Treat.  Western is hosting a Trunk or Treat event on Tuesday, October 31st from 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Western High School parking lot. There will also be a Walk in the Western woods for older students that will take place on the trails behind the schools. It will be a great family night!  You can host a trunk, donate candy or just come join the fun! Grass Lake Trunk or Treat.  Downtown Grass Lake businesses will be participating in the Trunk or Treat.  Michigan Avenue from Depot to Clark Street.  6 PM to 8 PM.  Group Portraits by April Scott Photography and a Spooky Walk.
