Today is Election Day for registered voters in the City of Jackson, Vandercook Lake School District and Concord School District.  Jackson voters will decide on Mayor and four council seats.  Vandercook Lake School District voters are being asked to approve a Building and Sinking Fund Tax Proposal.  In the Concord School District, a Bonding Proposal for repairs, improvements and upgrades is on the ballot.  The polls are open from 7 AM to 8 PM. The Jackson Anchor Initiative is hosting a Retailer Workshop today from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Consumers Energy Innovation Center, Downtown Jackson.  Learn about proven techniques, latest trends, store design and case studies.  This fast-paced workshop is designed to give small retailers and restaurants specific nuts and bolts techniques for increasing shopper traffic and sales.  Presented by Gibbs Planning Group.  There is no cost and all are welcome. Events of Monday, November 6, 2017

Congressman Tim Walberg presents the Veterans Resource Fair.  Congressman Walberg will be hosting a Veterans Resource Fair to provide the resources necessary for veterans to file VA benefit claims. Representatives from the Community Action Agency, Jackson County Veterans Affairs Office, VA Ann Arbor Healthcare System, and Veterans Benefits Administration will be onsite to aid veterans and/or their beneficiaries to learn more about available benefits and services. Time: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM.  Location: Jackson County Veterans Affairs Office, 1715 Lansing Avenue in Jackson. Reservations are due today for the 2017 Lumen Christi 43rd Annual Dinner and Auction.  The theme this year is “Seek Him”.  Donation is $95 per person.  The event is scheduled for Friday, November 17, 2017.  Social hour and silent auction starts at 5:30 PM, Live auction and dinner at 7 PM.  Reservations can be made by calling 517-787-5080 or online at lumen17.gesture.com. Free Enrollment Help for 2018 Marketplace Health Insurance Available at CFH

Enrollment for 2018 health insurance through the Affordable Care Act Marketplace has begin, and the Center for Family Health will once again help families sign up for coverage. This year's enrollment window for Marketplace insurance – also called Obamacare – is shorter than ever before, so individuals and families must act quickly to meet the Dec. 15 deadline. “Through all the political debate in Washington, Obamacare is still the law of the land, and families making up to four times the federal poverty level still qualify for tax credits that can make insurance premiums very affordable,” said Molly Kaser, President and CEO of the Center for Family Health. “We urge everyone who is eligible for coverage to sign up between Nov. 1 and Dec. 15,” Kaser said. “Our staff will assist anyone who needs help with the enrollment process.” The Center for Family Health has offered free enrollment assistance to all, including people who are not patients at the Center, each year since the initial roll-out of the Marketplace four years ago.
