The Nottawaseppi Huron Band of the Potawatomi, owners of FireKeepers, along with property executives, made the announcement, with the goal of attracting additional trips from gaming guests throughout the Midwest plus generation of new and larger conventions and business meetings and expansion of its retail market. FireKeepers Casino Hotel, located just off the I-94 corridor, connecting Detroit and Chicago, opened its 243-room hotel tower in December of 2012. For the past four consecutive years, the hotel has achieved Four Diamond status by AAA, identifying it among Michigan’s finest hotels. “Today’s announcement is the first step in the process, as we secure architects and constructions management,” stated Jamie Stuck, Chairman of the NHBP Tribal Council. “This is a key step in our Strategic Plan for FireKeepers to provide for future generations of our tribe.” The popularity of FireKeepers hotel has been strong, with occupancy exceeding 95% for the past twelve months.
