HFAH Grants Georgia Fojtasek President Emeritus Status; Awards $60,000 in Educational Scholarships

Georgia Fojtasek (courtesy photo) Retiring President & CEO Georgia Fojtasek, RN, EdD, was granted the distinction of “President Emeritus” status by resolution of the Henry Ford Allegiance Health Board. The emeritus title is awarded to the few who are worthy of retaining the honorary title due to distinguished service. Fojtasek served as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Health System from 1994 to 2019, and previously served as Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer from 1989 to 1994. Henry Ford Allegiance Health Board of Trustees Chair Tim Levy said, “Over her thirty years of unwavering service and community centered leadership, Georgia played a significant role in transitioning a small community hospital into a century-strong, award-winning, high-quality, seven-county regional presence.” Fojtasek was fully engaged with the Board in spearheading partnership discussions leading to the successful affiliation with Henry Ford Health System, and she brought substantial clinical innovation and advancements during her tenure, including: Cancer care. Radiation oncology services were added to the existing medical oncology services. Cardiac care. Lifesaving open-heart surgery has been available locally for more than a decade. Surgical advancements. Red Cross Blood Drive.  7/30/2019: 12 p.m. - 5:45 p.m., Grass Lake United Methodist Church, 449  E. Michigan Avenue, Grass Lake. To help address the current emergency blood shortage, all who come to give blood or platelets with the American Red Cross July 29 through Aug. 29 will receive a $5 Amazon.com Gift Card via email. Currently, the Red Cross has less than a three-day supply of most blood types available and less than a two-day supply of type O blood.
