Adrian College Playing Fall Sports Despite MIAA Postponement
(July 30, 2020 4:01 PM) The Michigan Intercollegiate Athletics Association (MIAA) Presidents’ Council has announced that fall sports will be postponed until spring. MIAA member school Adrian College announced today it is still planning to play an athletic schedule in all of its fall sports programs. Adrian College is planning full seasons for all fall sports including football, bass fishing, bowling, competitive cheerleading, cross-country, equestrian, golf, tennis, rowing, soccer and volleyball. In light of the MIAA’s announcement, Adrian College athletics has initiated the process of developing independent schedules for fall sports. Michael Duffy, Adrian College’s athletic director, is working to identify interested colleges. “We’ve reached out to other institutions who are also looking to engage in competition this fall,” Duffy said. “More information will come on these modified schedules as it is available.” Adrian College’s COVID-19 task force has been working for several months creating its preparedness plan, which is posted on the College website. Adrian College will follow the NCAA recommendations outlined in the “Resocialization of Collegiate Sport: Developing Standards for Practice and Competition” document.
