MHSAA Announces Revised Schedule for Winter Contact Sports
(January 14, 2021 3:15 PM) The Michigan High School Athletic Association’s Representative Council today approved a plan for adjusting schedules for the five Winter “contact” sports which may begin non-contact activities Jan. 16 but not full practice and competition until Feb. 1 per the recent update to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) epidemic plan. The updated schedule for girls and boys basketball, competitive cheer, ice hockey and wrestling pushes Finals for those sports into late March or early April. Jackson YMCA Chooses Architect and Construction Manager for New Facility

(January 14, 2021 12:48 PM) The Jackson YMCA has announced the selection of two organizations to round out its capital campaign design and construction team. The YMCA Board of Directors, acting on recommendations of its campaign Building and Design Committee, selected Granger Construction Co. as the project’s construction manager and Bergmann as the YMCA’s architect/engineer. The committee and both firms are working closely with Gro Development Inc., a leader in the development, design and management of YMCAs and other community-based facilities; samples of their YMCA work are available at www.gro-dev.com. The announcement follows a months-long process that included requests for proposals from local and regional firms, extensive interviews and final selections. (January 14, 2021 12:00 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County. As of 12 PM today, there are 8,214 positive cases (cumulative), and 186 deaths (cumulative)*. There are 42 new cases and 3 new deaths since yesterday’s report. Cumulative recovered, as of January 14, 2020: 6,518** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Sunday and Monday. Recovered numbers are being posted as received. The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 6:50 PM January 8, there are 4,283 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 531 confirmed positive staff cases. MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative. As of 9 AM January 13, there 36 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.
