JAMA Presents Awards at 85th Annual Meeting

(May 6, 2022 3:30 PM) The Jackson Area Manufacturers Association (JAMA) presented its 2022 Annual Awards this week at the Association’s 85th annual meeting and dinner at the Country Club of Jackson. Tom Kelly, CEO and Executive Director of Automation Alley, Michigan’s Industry 4.0 knowledge center, was the keynote speaker. Apprentice, Student, Educator, Manufacturer of the Year, Heritage Hall of Fame, and the Peter F. Hurst Manufacturing Innovator Awards were presented. JACC Celebrates ‘Signing Day’ for 50 Seniors

By Jeff Steers JTV News (May 6, 2022 3:03 PM) Just like some high school athletes, students at the Jackson Area Career Center are also moving on. But unlike the athletes, it is a career move. Fifty Jackson Area Career Center seniors participated in the second Signing Day on Friday. The students signed on to careers in the military, joining the workforce, joining the workforce and continuing education, or just continuing education.  Six of the Jackson County students will be entering the military; 10 are joining the workforce going into careers in machining, construction, and automotive repair; six will be joining the workforce and continuing in his/her education; and the remainder will be continuing education from Jackson College to Clemson University.

Baseball Lumen Christi 1, Pennfield 0: Garrett Swan earned the pitching win for the Titans, striking out four batters. Cooper Cumberworth knocked in the only run for Lumen Christi.   Pennfield 3, Lumen Christi 2: Pennfield scored a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to pull out the win. Max McCluskey knocked in the only two runs for Lumen Christi (9-6-1).  Concord 7, Quincy 0: The game was stopped in the fourth inning with the Yellow Jackets leading 7-0.  Quincy 5, Concord 4: The Yellow Jackets only had four hits in Big Eight Conference game.  Softball Columbia Central 12, Onsted 4: Kenadee Tompkins had three hits and knocked in a pair of runs for CCHS in the win. Gianna Evans had two hits at the plate and was the winning pitcher for Columbia Central. Columbia Central 17, Onsted 15: The Golden Eagles scored 11 runs in the sixth inning to pull out the win. Events of May 6, 7 and 8, 2022

May 6 Friends of the Eastern Branch Book Sale.  Stop by the Eastern Branch to shop sales on fiction and non-fiction books, juvenile and young adult books, as well as movies and magazines.  Friday 9 AM – 6 PM, Saturday 9 AM – 2 PM  (“Fill-a-Bag” for $1 Saturday).  All proceeds are used to support JDL programming.  Eastern Branch, Jackson District Library, 3125 East Michigan Avenue, Jackson. An Evening at the Arbor.  6 PM.  It’s our pleasure to host An Evening at the Arbor on campus at the McDonald Athletic Center. We invite you and your guests for a night of great food, networking, and fun. Throughout the event, you will have the opportunity to interact with our students, faculty, and several community partners.  This year’s An Evening at the Arbor highlights the Gainey School of Business and celebrates the accomplishments of our students, faculty and alumni serving as business professionals – strong Christian leaders who are experienced critical thinkers, expert problem solvers and ethical employees.  Heavy appetizers will be served beginning at 6 p.m. The evening will conclude with a dessert reception.
