Jackson College Jets softball finished their season with a new program record for wins and a heartbreaking 11th-inning loss in the regional tournament. The Jets end the season 37-15 and set a new program record for wins. In their semi-final game in the NJCAA Region XII Championship, they were tied 2-2 with the Lansing Community College Stars from the sixth inning on, pushing the game to extra innings. Lansing scored in the bottom of the 11th inning to overtake the Jets 3-2, ending their season. “I am proud of this group’s accomplishments and look forward to seeing this program continue to grow!” said coach Jamie Vandenburgh. Several Jets players receive season honors: Allison LaPoint, pitcher, All-Tournament Team; All-Region, All-MCCAA Team; First Team All-Conference. LaPoint, of Holland, Ohio, pitched 16 wins and 5 losses in 25 appearances for the Jets this year, with a 2.13 ERA in 135 innings. She struck out 127 players. Koryn Playford, second-base/utility, First Team All-Conference; All-Freshman Team.
