Cloudy with Showers Developing Later

A cold front will swing east through Southwest Lower Michigan this morning ushering in even colder air. Temperatures most likely will hold in the 40s through the day. Highs this weekend will hold in the 40s as well. Some rain showers can be expected today associated with the passage of the cold front. Tonight into Saturday, lake effect precipitation will commence with rain showers likely toward Lake Michigan. Away from the lake tonight into Saturday morning the rain showers will mix with snow showers. Little to no accumulation is expected, but there will be a few flakes in the air. The lake effect precipitation will wind down into Sunday as high pressure moves into the area. Today:  A chance of rain showers until midday, then rain showers in the afternoon. Highs in the lower 50s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph with gusts to around 25 mph. Chance of rain 90 percent. Tonight:  Rain showers in the evening, then a chance of rain showers, possibly mixed with snow showers overnight. Lows in the lower 30s. Southwest winds 5 to 10 mph. Events of October 27, 28 and 29, 2017

Spooktacular Trick or Treat Event.  Jackson College welcomes the community to Central Campus for its Fourth Annual Halloween Trick or Treat Spooktacular!  Children 12 and under are invited Friday, Oct. 27, from 5:30-7 p.m. to gather treats. Guests are encouraged to dress in a Halloween costume (not required) and trick or treat through campus buildings. Parents should park in the Bert Walker Hall parking lot, off Emmons Road, and start in Bert Walker Hall. Handicapped accessible parking is available on south or north side (near college bookstore) of Potter Center. Strollers and wagons are permitted, the route is completely handicap accessible with all locations being on the first floor of each building; there will be no stairs to navigate. Children are encouraged to bring a Halloween pumpkin or bag.  Volunteers will be stationed throughout the campus to direct visitors on their way between buildings. At the end of the route, hot cocoa will be available in the Potter Center.  This is a free event for the community. Join us for a spooktacular good time! Low pressure will move toward the Great Lakes from the Northern Plains today moving over Lake Michigan tonight. A cold front will sweep through the area on Friday. The low will linger in the Great Lakes into the weekend. Some rain is expected tonight into Friday ahead of the cold front. As colder air sweeps into the area lake generated rain showers and drizzle will commence Friday lasting into Saturday. The colder air will actually allow a few snow flakes to mix in Friday night into Saturday morning. Some spotty light accumulations on grassy areas cannot be ruled out Saturday morning. Today:  Sunny, with a high near 53. Calm wind becoming south southwest around 6 mph in the afternoon. Tonight:  Mostly cloudy, with a low around 42. South southeast wind 8 to 15 mph. Friday:  Showers likely, mainly after 2pm. Cloudy, with a high near 54. South southeast wind around 11 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 21 mph.
