Craig Hatch Named New Jackson Chamber and Experience Jackson President

The Jackson County Chamber of Commerce and Jackson County Convention and Visitor’s Bureau (dba Experience Jackson) have announced that Craig Hatch has been named the President and CEO of both organizations effective March 23, 2020. The selection of Hatch as the new President and CEO comes after conducting a national search led by an industry leading executive search firm and the Chamber and Experience Jackson’s Search Committee. Kirsten Blackdeer, the Experience Jackson Board Chair said, “We are very fortunate to have someone with Craig Hatch’s experience and enthusiasm for our community accept the role of CEO and President of Experience Jackson.” “I’ve worked with and known Craig for years. His experiences, both personal and professional, will make him a great President/CEO of the Chamber and Experience Jackson. I am excited to watch him lead these great organizations into the future.” Said former Experience Jackson and Chamber President and CEO, Mindy Bradish-Orta. Alro Completes Expansion of St. Louis, MO Facility

Alro Steel has announced the expansion of its St. Louis, MO facility. The project, on Rider Trail in Earth City, MO added 54,180 square feet of space, bringing the total square footage to 162,450 square feet. The expansion includes the addition of a new plasma cutting machine and a new bay.  Additional racking was also added to allow for expanded inventories of plate, sheet, alloys, stainless, aluminum, and various red metals products. This will allow the St. Louis team to better service customers throughout their region. Alro Steel, based in Jackson, operates over 70 locations in 12 states and provides a broad inventory of products under the following companies: Alro Steel, Alro Metals, Alro Metals Outlet, Alro Industrial Supply, and Alro Plastics.

Nineteenth Year of High School Football Coming on JTV

JTV Sports will return with presentations of High School Football this year. This will be JTV's 19th year of consecutive coverage of varsity athletics throughout Jackson County. JTV Sports | August 5th, 2019 | JTV Sports Staff JTV Sports’ nineteenth season of High School Football coverage begins at the end of this month. Since JTV began coverage of High School Sports in 2000, nearly 50,000 high school student-athletes have appeared in over 3,000 games telecast on JTV.   JTV offers complete game coverage, as well as programs like The Locker Room, Aspen One-Hour Football Show, Thursday Night Hoops and other specials. JTV has earned the distinction of being “The World Leader in Local High School Sports Television.” Each week during the regular and post-season, JTV covers 3 to 4 games, with play-by-play and color commentators, instant replays, graphics and several in-game features. Ambs Call Center Wins ATSI 2019 Award of Excellence

Ambs Call Center has been awarded the ATSI 2019 Award of Excellence for Best Answering Service.  This annual award is presented by the Association of TeleServices International (ATSI) an industry trade association for telephone answering service providers. Now a 16-time winner, Ambs Call Center earned the Sapphire Award at ATSI’s 2019 Annual Convention held at the OMNI Dallas Hotel, in Dallas, TX. Call centers from across North America and the United Kingdom take part in the Award of Excellence program. Wherein, independent judges make random test calls to participating call centers. Lean Rocket Lab Receives $300,000 in Support

The Lean Rocket Lab announced today that it is receiving $300,000 in support from the Michigan Strategic Fund, the Consumers Energy Foundation and local organizations to help nurture the next generation of businesses in Jackson. The Lean Rocket Lab opened in downtown Jackson at 133 W. Michigan Ave. late last year and is providing working space and resources to support start-up companies. The business accelerator is receiving $150,000 from the Michigan Strategic Fund, $100,000 from the Consumers Energy Foundation and another $50,000 from Jackson organizations to focus on high-tech manufacturing. “We want Michigan to know that Jackson is open for business,” said Patti Poppe, president and CEO of Consumers Energy. “With housing and businesses starting up downtown, we are pleased to support the Lean Rocket Lab with a grant that will continue strengthening a foundation for Jackson to thrive, ensuring Michigan’s economic prosperity.” “The Enterprise Group is excited to partner with the Lean Rocket Lab in their efforts to identify and develop emerging manufacturing and technology companies. County National Bank has announced a series of promotions approved by the Board of Directors of the bank.  Ron Haber has been promoted to Vice President - Commercial Loans from his current level of 2nd Vice President - Commercial Loan Officer. During Ron’s 39-year banking career, 13 at CNB, he has developed a reputation for dedication to his customers and community. Ron also oversees the lending portion of compliance regulations. Ron is a member of the Hudson Chamber of Commerce, Hudson Foundation, Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Finance Committee and treasurer for the Boy’s and Girl’s Club of Lenawee. Nite Lite Reopens in Downtown Jackson

By Alex Cash Staff Writer Jackson, MI - After a waiting period with an unknown end date, patrons excitedly dined in the newly reopened Nite Lite Restaurant in Downtown Jackson.  After nearly five months of being unsure whether this downtown staple would reopen for business, the wait is now over. New owners Joe and Jill Brandeberry, were looking for a change after they sold their staffing company in January of this year. They knew Mary Drake, Nite Lite’s founder and were friends of the family. It was evident to them that she had a great business established, so it made the decision an easier one. Being a part of downtown felt like the right next challenge for them. “We like the downtown and we like what is going on down here. We want to be part of the family,” said Brandeberry. He said the menu is remaining the same for now so that people who loved and depended on the menu can experience the same favorites. Over time, he plans to add some new specialties to mix it up. Their mobile hot dog cart can be seen at area events serving up delicious hot dogs, sides, and drinks all in a quick way.   Junkyard Dog owner, Amy Carrigan says they have been to Ella Sharp Park, movies in Horace Blackman Park, various walks for non-profits and more. They are always open to new ideas and new opportunities.    Walk up and you’ll see the small yellow cart, topped with an umbrella, that keeps dogs warm and ready to be served. Go to the nearby table to top your lunch with some toppings like ketchup, mustard, and relish.    Chilly Michigan weather isn't going to stop the Junkyard Dog on the Go. Owners Mike and Amy and don't plan on parking it for the season, so more hot dogs will be coming your way. Enjoy a hot dog, on a cool day.  Look for the cart at Jackson area events!
