Michigan Reports 2,770* Coronavirus Cases, State Total Now 2,071,587

(March 18, 2022 4:05 PM)  Michigan reported 2,770* coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 2,071,587. Michigan is reporting 50** COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 32,611.   *Notes on cases (03/18/2022): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report.  Over the two days (Thursday and Friday), the average number of new confirmed cases is 1,385 per day. Due to a backlog of previously unreported historic test results received and processed on 03/17/2022, today's new daily confirmed case count contains approximately 825 additional cases that are attributable to older lab results. These cases will be sorted to the appropriate onset (or specimen collection) date in the Daily Case tab of the dashboard. **The deaths announced today includes 35 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. Information is updated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 39,236 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 547 Deaths

(March 18, 2022 3:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 39,236 positive cases (cumulative), and 547 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 14 new cases since yesterday’s report.  The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  Cumulative recovered, as of March 18:  38,302** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. MDHHS Updates Isolation and Quarantine Guidance Based on Low COVID-19 Numbers

(March 11, 2022 12:14 PM) Based on current conditions and low numbers of new COVID-19 cases, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is updating its COVID-19 Isolation & Quarantine guidance for Michigan residents, Michigan residents, including for school settings. "We are updating our guidance to reflect the fact the state has entered a post-surge, recovery phase," said Dr. Natasha Bagdasarian, MDHHS chief medical executive. "As we move through the phases of our COVID-19 response our recommendations will be updated to reflect the current status of transmission, while continuing to prioritize public health and promote health and wellness for all communities. We continue to strongly urge all residents ages 5 and older get the safe and effective COVID-19 vaccine and to get boosted when eligible as the vaccine continues to be our best defense against the virus." This update does not change guidance for health care, long-term care, corrections and other high-risk settings, and these entities should continue to follow existing guidance.
