(April 4, 2022 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 39,357 positive cases (cumulative), and 550 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 14 new cases since Friday’s report. The Jackson County Health Department has announced a change in reporting effective Oct. 6, 2021.  Cases defined as probable will be reported in cumulative case and death counts.  As additional methods of testing besides the PCR test have become more common, the amount of cases classified as probable has increased and are included to provide a more accurate picture of disease in our community.  Cumulative recovered, as of April 4:  38,561** The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  *These numbers do not reflect any cases or deaths identified through Michigan Department of Corrections.  Their numbers are listed under a separate category and reported by the state at Michigan Statistics. (April 1, 2022 4:30 PM)  Michigan reported 1,661* coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 2,080,612. Michigan is reporting 33** COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 32,863.   *Note on cases (04/01/2022): Today's daily case count represents new referrals of confirmed cases to the MDSS since the last web update report.  Over the two days (Thursday and Friday), the average number of new confirmed cases is ~831 per day. **The deaths announced today includes 27 deaths identified during a Vital Records review. See cumulative data page for more information. Information is updated Monday, Wednesday, and Friday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.    The MDHHS today announced that starting the week of April 4, 2022, data will be updated in the following way: Case and death data will be updated once per week on Wednesdays. Case and death data will be inclusive of both confirmed and probable cases and deaths. The cumulative county COVID-19 case rate map wil be replaced with a map of the CDC COVID-19 community levels and will be refreshed on Fridays.

(April 1, 2022 12:30 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department has announced plans for observing National Public Health Week: Each year the first week of April is designated as National Public Health Week.  Public health workers at the Jackson County Health Department and in health departments across the state and nation work to ensure residents have access to clean water, safe foods, smoke free air, disease prevention education, and the skills and resources to ensure a healthy start in life.  In addition to these basic needs, public health workers strive to identify the causes of poor health and disease within our communities, while taking into account the needs and barriers that prevent individuals from achieving optimal health.  Each day of National Public Health Week spotlights a different topic or focus area that faces the people who live, learn, and work in our country. This year’s Daily Themes focus on some of the important issues facing our nation.  We encourage you to use these themes to start conversations in your organizations, churches, and community, and reach out to find ways to work together and improve the health of Jackson County. (April 1, 2022 12:00 PM)  The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 39,343 positive cases (cumulative), and 550 deaths (cumulative)*.   There are 3 new cases and 2 new deaths since yesterday’s report. Henry Ford Health continues to see a decline in COVID cases across all their hospitals, reaching the lowest COVID-19 inpatient numbers in nearly two years (32 cases). Henry Ford Jackson Hospital is in the low single digits for cases. (March 30, 2022 3:55 PM) Following the U.S. Food and Drug Administration authorization and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommendation, the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) announces that all Michiganders ages 50 and up and moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals over age 12 may choose to receive a second booster vaccine. Pfizer is the only COVID-19 vaccine currently authorized for those under age 18. COVID-19 booster doses may be given at the same time as other vaccines, including the flu vaccine. Four months after receipt of a first booster dose, the following are now authorized and individuals may choose to receive: A second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine or Moderna COVID-19 vaccine may be administered to individuals 50 years of age and older. A second booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine may be administered to moderately or severely immunocompromised individuals 12 years of age and older.
