Columbia Central to host Dearborn Heights Robichaud in D5

The Golden Eagles just completed their best regular season since an 8-1 campaign in 1987.  The reward will be a home contest with Dearborn Heights Robichaud.  The Bulldogs have made the playoffs 5 straight years but this will be their first time playing in D5.  The previous four years DHR played in D4.   The Golden Eagles only loss on the year came to unbeaten Ida who is on the other side of the bracket in this district. A Chance at History

Columbia Central has a chance to start 4-0 for first time in 10 years (photo:  19 returning seniors saw significant playing time last season)  By Mike Moore Staff Writer  Brooklyn – At a school open house recently, Josh Kubiak couldn’t stop hearing about the Columbia Central football team, program and season going on right now. Not that he wanted to. “But what we have going is pretty great,” the Golden Eagles’ head coach said earlier this week. “The community is beyond itself. We feel like the talk of the town right now.” Understandably so, too. Thanks to a 26-22 upset of Hillsdale last weekend, Columbia Central is 3-0 on the season, unbeaten this far into the schedule for the first time since a 6-0 start in 2005. We have a great group of seniors, and that really makes a difference,” Kubiak said of his group. “We have 19 seniors, and 16 of them saw significant time last year.” So is he surprised by the three-for-three start? “A little bit, yes, to be honest,” Kubiak said. “I wasn’t sure exactly what we had until the scrimmage. Selby Track and Field Classic to air next weekend on JTV

JTV will air the James R. Selby Track and Field Classic next Saturday and Sunday at 1pm and 7pm.  Jackson High's Corey Pryor was named Male Outstanding Performer of the meet.  He finished 1st in the 110 High Hurdles, 300 Hurdles and was a member of the winning 400 Relay.  On the girls side, Kaniya Weatherspoon of Napoleon was named Female Outstanding Performer.  She won the Long Jump, 400 and 200.  To watch online at the above times click here
