Golightly Continuing to Make History for Mounties Softball

David Rice | JTV Sports May 24th, 2025   (5-24-25, 8:00AM): Northwest High School senior Ava Golightly continues to make history on the softball diamond. In a recent matchup against Coldwater, Golightly swiped her 200th career stolen base — a moment that completed a rare and remarkable trifecta: 200 stolen bases, 200 runs scored, and 200 singles. It's a personal goal she set early in her high school career, and now, with the milestone met, she stands among the elite in Michigan high school softball. “Ava has been a tremendous example of what it means to be a quality teammate not just an athlete. She is always positive, encouraging the success of everyone” said Head Coach Dan Good. A four-year varsity starter, Golightly has been an engine of the Mountie offense since her freshman season. Her consistency at the plate, and leadership on and off the field have made her a foundational piece of the program. “You will never see her sitting away from her team but up on the fence engaged in the action celebrating the successes and giving a word of encouragement for those that may be struggling” said Coach Good.
