Michigan Reports 1,766 Coronavirus Cases Today, State Total Now 873,335

(May 14, 2021 2:22 PM) Michigan reported 1,766 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 873,335. Michigan is reporting 34 COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 18,500.  State Cumulative Total of Recovered COVID-19 Cases (as of 5/7/21): 703,746. This information is updated Monday through Saturday at 3 p.m., with COVID-19 results included as of 10 a.m.  Monday reports include Sunday data.

Jackson County Cumulative Report: 14,381 COVID-19 Positive Cases and 260 Deaths

(May 14, 2021 12:44 PM) The Jackson County Health Department released the COVID-19 positive numbers for Jackson County.  As of 12:00 PM today, there are 14,381 positive cases (cumulative), and 260 deaths (cumulative)*.     There are 24 new cases since yesterday’s report.   Cumulative recovered, as of May 14: 12,584** As of May 12, there are 37 persons at Henry Ford Allegiance Health being treated as inpatients for COVID-19.  Jackson County Vaccination Coverage:  47.7% of Jackson County residents 16 and older have received first dose, 39.8% fully vaccinated (Moderna or Pfizer both doses, J&J single dose). The cumulative numbers posted on Mondays include the data from Sunday and Monday.  Recovered numbers are being posted as received.  The Michigan Department of Corrections is reporting as of 6:55 PM May 7, there are 5,521 confirmed positive cases at Jackson facilities and 688 confirmed positive staff cases.  MDOC positive case numbers are cumulative. Note:  Jackson County will post COVID-19 data daily by mid-afternoon, Monday-Saturday, keeping with the schedule established by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS). Governor Whitmer Lifts Mask Requirement for Fully Vaccinated Michiganders

(May 14, 2021 11:44 AM) Governor Gretchen Whitmer today announced the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) is updating the Gatherings and Mask Order to align with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s latest guidance on face coverings. The new order will effect on Saturday, May 15 at 9AM.    “For more than a year, we’ve been following the best data and science to slow the spread of COVID-19 and save lives,” said Governor Gretchen Whitmer. “The vast majority of us have trusted the scientists and experts to keep us safe during the pandemic, and it has worked. With millions of Michiganders fully vaccinated, we can now safely and confidently take the next step to get back to normal. The message is clear: vaccines work to protect you and your loved ones. If you have not yet received your vaccine, now is the time to sign up. Jackson County Health Department Weekly Report for May 14, 2021

(May 14, 2021 7:09 AM) The Jackson County Health Department has released its weekly report and it is published here: We appreciate the community efforts in overcoming the COVID challenges over the past year that Jackson County has had in keeping our community safe. Schools have had the difficult task of balancing a quality education, and keeping students and staff safe during a pandemic. On May 7th, MDHHS stated that they would cease enforcement of school guidance. Jackson County Health Department continues to encourage schools to continue to follow the State of Michigan Guidelines for K-12 schools https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/0,9753,7-406-98178_104699---,00.html, including identifying close contacts of positive COVID-19 cases and quarantining. We will strive to work with MDHHS and schools to provide up to date guidance that can help keep students and the community safe. (May 13, 2021 3:31 PM) Michigan reported 2,057 coronavirus (COVID-19) positive test cases today, with the state reported total now at 871,569. Michigan is reporting 112* COVID-19-related deaths today with the state total at 18,467.  *The deaths announced today includes 73 deaths identified during a Vital Records review.
