Struck Demonstrates Mural Skills on Jackson Business Wall

By Jeff Steers JTV News (July 7, 2021 4:10 PM) The prince of speed painting in Jackson had to slow down a bit to complete a large mural this week. Evan Struck has been working on a mural honoring Geno Parker at Virtue Drums, 1206 W. Michigan Ave – just west of North Wisner. The mural will cover the entire wall on the east side of the business. Struck was the artist who depicted Benny Poole on a large mural at Nite Lite last year. Parker played drums for Poole and numerous other artists in the area. “It is cool to honor another local, Jackson musician,” Struck said of the project. Virtue Drums owner Jeff Stutzman put out the word on Facebook looking for someone to honor on the blank wall. He said the name Geno Parker kept “popping up.” Struck is expected to finish the mural on Thursday – weather permitting. Bright Walls Announces 2021 Event
(July 7, 2021 12:36 PM) The Bright Walls Mural Festival today announced plans for Bright Walls 2021. The committee said this year’s event will be a three-day festival but emphasized the Finale is still being planned for 2022. Plans for a 2020 festival, which would have been the third and final event, were derailed due to the pandemic. Organizers earlier this year announced there would be a “Bright Site” in 2021 and today revealed specific plans. Clay McAndrews, Bright Walls founder and co-director told JTV this year’s event will include mural painting and said details will be announced later along with other surprises. This year’s lineup of activities: THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 16, 2021 AT 6:30 PM EDT Bright Paws – Parade and Pageant Bring your four-legged friends to the 2018 Bright Walls Mural Site (we’ll meet at the Cey Adams “Love” mural on the back of the Jackson Antique Mall – 201 N. Jackson Street). After taking photos, we will parade with our pups to the 2021 Bright Walls Festival.
