(6-18-2025, 8:00AM): On Tuesday, the Big 8 Conference announced the addition of two new member schools.
Effective beginning the 2026-27 school year, Homer High School will return to the conference. Homer has been competing in the Cascades Conference for just two years (since 2023-24) and returns to the Big 8 where they have competed since 1973.
East Jackson High School will also be joining the conference. EJHS was one of the original Cascades members and has competed in the conference since its founding in 1954.
The Big 8 will now include Concord, Springport, Bronson, Vermontville Maple Valley, Quincy, Reading, Union City, Stockbridge, Homer, and East Jackson.
The Cascades Conference is now down to 10 teams:
West: Addison, Brooklyn Columbia Central, Jonesville, Vandercook Lake, Hanover Horton
East: Grass Lake, Leslie, Michigan Center, Napoleon, Manchester
Both moves make the total number of schools now to 10 in both the Cascades and Big 8.
