DIVISION 3 at Hanover Horton

FINAL – Jonesville 8, Hanover Horton 3: Seven runs in the 2nd inning for Jonesville helped them get an early lead and claim a district title in a battle of the Comets. Slade Feller batted 3 hits for HH. Carson Young and Talon Titus each batted two hits for Jonesville, with Young earning the pitching win. Jonesville will face Centreville at CHS in the Regional Semifinal on Wednesday.

 

DIVISION 3 at Lumen Christi

Grass Lake 4, Leslie 0

Lumen Christi 9, Napoleon 0

FINAL – Lumen Christi 11, Grass Lake 5: Two home runs with 5 RBIs from Wes Learned helped lead the Titans to a 6th straight district title at home. Learned was also the winning pitcher, throwing 8 strikeouts in 5.1 innings. Jack Fitzpatrick also batted 3 hits for LC. Four different players combined for Grass Lake’s four hits. LC improves to 30-9 and will face Springport in the Regional Semifinal on Wednesday at Lansing Catholic.

DIVISION 3 at Lansing Catholic

Springport 4, Lansing Catholic 3

Laingsburg 13, Bath 6

FINAL – Springport 11, Laingsburg 0: Jake Kregel batted 3-3 with 4 RBIs to lead the Spartans to a historic district title. Ripken Overweg batted 2-3 with 3 RBIs, and Drew Kregel batted two hits. Gibson Overweg was the winning pitcher, throwing 7 strikeouts and allowing just two hits. Springport will face Lumen Christi in the Regional Semifinal next Wednesday.

Springport continues its historic school year, winning a baseball district title.

DIVISION 2 at Parma Western

FINAL – Parma Western 5, Michigan Center 1: Addison Yanovich batted two hits for Western. Audrina Bisonet drove in three runs, and Amber Gregory drove in two runs with a home run. Gregory had a dominating performance in the circle, throwing 14 strikeouts and allowing just one hit in a complete game.

DIVISION 3 at Olivet

Hanover Horton 9, Springport 4

Lumen Christi 17, Olivet 0

FINAL – Lumen Christi 6, Hanover Horton 4: Ollie Powers and Bella Wrozek each batted three hits to lead the Titans to back-to-back district titles. Bree Okoniewski batted two hits, and Powers earned the win in the circle. LC will face Clinton next Saturday (6/6) in the Regional Semifinals at Hanover Horton HS.

DIVISION 3 at Onsted

Grass Lake 7, Columbia Central 4

Napoleon 15, Stockbridge 10

FINAL – Grass Lake 14, Napoleon 3: Six different players batted two hits each for the Warriors as they now have back-to-back district titles. The defending state champs will face Homer in the Regional Semifinals next Saturday at HHHS.

MHSAA TRACK & FIELD STATE FINALS

DIVISION 2: Parma Western boys placed 4th as a team in the state finals, coming off a state title last season. DeMarcus Hill placed 12th in the 400 meter race. Ryan Good won state titles in both the 800m and 1600m races. Edison Lopeman placed 13th in the 3200 meter race. Western also placed top 20 in the 4×200 relay, and top 15 in the 4×800. Braden Vancalbergh took 6th place in the pole vault. Mason Bradley of Michigan Center placed 19th in shot put. In the girls events, Karsyn Smith of Michigan Center placed 9th in the 800 meter race. In the 4×800 relay, Western placed 17th and Michigan Center in 21st.

 

DIVISION 3: Out of 60 schools, Columbia Central boys placed 7th, Lumen Christi 8th, and Hanover Horton took 11th place to lead the area schools. JJ Russ of HH finished 8th in the 100 meter race. Johnny Walters of LC took 5th in the 200 meter, and Luke Ellison of Columbia Central placed 6th. Walters placed 2nd in the 400 meter, and Trent Troyer of CC took 5th. Caleb Blonde of Jonesville finished in 3rd place in the 800 meter, and Connor Sherwood of Grass Lake placed 18th. Columbia Central’s Clint Couchman placed 6th in the 1600 meter, and 5th in the 3200m. Cooper Flick of HH also finished top 10 in the 3200. Austyn Hocter of HH took 2nd in the 110m hurdles, and Zack Johnson of CC placed 7th in both the 110m and 300m. Hanover Horton took 5th in the 4×100 relay, and Columbia placed 5th in the 4×400. Jonesville won the state title in the 4×800 relay and HH took 3rd. Joey Tracy of CC placed 17th in shot put, and 12th in discus. Gurmilan Singh of LCCHS placed 2nd in the high jump. Tucker Wiginton of Springport was the state champ in pole vault with a 15’0”. In the girls events, freshman Avery Haynes of CCHS placed 9th in the 800m race, and Maisey Toteff of HH took 13th. Lumen Christi’s Samantha Schroeder placed 11th in the 1600m, and Hailey Creisher of Leslie took 13th. Schroder placed 4th in the 3200m and Creisher placed 6th. Napoleon took 7th in the 4×100 relay, and 9th in the 4×200. Grass Lake took 10th in the 4×400 race. Napoleon’s Ayva Reynolds placed 10th in the high jump. In pole vault, Grass Lake’s Ashleigh Simon placed 3rd and Maci Straub of Napoleon placed 9th. Kristen Warren of LC placed 6th in long jump.

 

DIVISION 4: Out of 63 schools, Manchester boys placed 4th, Vandercook Lake in 28th, and Concord in 29th. Jayden Johnson of Manchester placed 3rd in the 100m, and JPEC’s Jordon Patrick took 6th. Johnson won the state title in the 200m, and Patrick placed 7th. Maddox Hutchinson of Concord took 17th in the 1600m. Grant Johnson of Manchester took 2nd in the 110m hurdles, and 4th in the 300m. Concord placed 9th in the 4×200 relay, and 2nd in the 4×400. Dallas Swanepoel of Vandercook Lake placed 2nd in the pole vault. In the girls events, Concord placed 7th as a team. Annie Saenz won the state title in the high jump with a 5’8.5”, setting a new school record previously held since 1987. Audrey Pyle placed 4th in the 800m. Sierra Jedele of Manchester placed 4th in the 100m hurdles, and 8th in the 300m. Concord took 11th in the 4×100 relay, 5th in the 4×200, 2nd in the 4×400, and 4th in the 4×800.
